And sadly, this is happening in the US too, and strikes are imminent here as well. If contracts are allowed to expire and management ties up resonable requests for a cost of living increase for employees and takes away year end bonuses, the CEO should not receive a multi-million $$ bonus every single year. In the meantime, crewmembers are making so little, they qualify for food stamps. Pilots @ some airlines make as little as $25K and flight attendants making as little as $18K. Do you really want the person with your life in their hands preocuppied with how to feed their family or pay their rent? It happens every day. I know, because I am one of these crewmembers.

Qantas wanted this to happen it's the catalyst they've been waiting for to move all their operations off shore to Asia and the only thing the government will do is give them money to help them move.
