My dog died in my arms this morning.
She couldn't move this morning.
Her gums were white as a sheet of paper. (sign of internal bleeding)
The vet met me at his office, and we put her down with her in my arms. (he changed his mind about not letting me be in the room).
She weights 95 lbs and I swear I could feel her become lighter as she passed. Say what you want, I know people under stress interpret things poorly, but I felt her body lighten as she passed. It was as if her weight passed through me? I can't explain it. We are all so sad from this. Not even sure why I am posting this?

Sorry to hear that. At least you could be with her when she died, and be a comfort to her.

Thank you all,
I told my son, we should remember her through our deeds.
He looked puzzled and I explained that we should honor her life by simply being a better person.

I know just how you feel. I had to do that to my little buddy nearly a year ago, held him while he passed. I told him to come back for me when it was my time, and I believe that he will.

yes op she is gone but she is not lost. you will see her again i promise

you are truly a stronger man than I am I could never do that. Not even that I wouldn't want to, I would be a crying mess and too emotionally unstable.

I have read somewhere that the soul actually weighs a few lbs.

But I'm not necessarily saying I believe that at all... I'm just saying I've read it ;)

Sorry to hear of your loss . I lost my old boy almost exactly a year ago . He passed away with his head in my lap as we both sat on the floor . It was a long illness . I cried like a child

Yes, I understand. It's a good one to watch alone, when you want to shed some tears and hope it lightens the pain. You'll be in my thoughts. It's so hard.

It's heartbreaking when pets pass away, your particular experience was harrowing.

Re: My dog died in my arms this morning.
I went through the loss of two in the last couple of years. One was with me 24/7 for 12 years.

I wish you and your son the best.

I rescued a 14 month old white boxer 7 months ago. He can't replace the others, but he's got the coolest personality and my life would have a big hole in it without him.

Peace. And remember the rainbow Bridge...

I'm so sorry too...and I agree with the above reply.
One of my Guinea pigs died in my arms last fall...it truly broke my heart - and losing a pet has always been harder for me than losing a human...

If it's any comfort: No one ever dies, we just move on - hopefully for something better. hf

Re: My dog died in my arms this morning.
Sorry to hear that. I've always wondered how I'll continue if my 4 year old male border collie dies. He is amazing.
If you plan someday to get another dog, I would highly encourage you to get a male border collie puppy. Incredibly smart and cuddles like a baby bear.

I totally understand. Been there...Yes, I feel a biological body does lose weight...when the soul passes out of it. You and your dog are lucky to have had each other.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
