This really angers me. I am Canadian but a legal tax paying resident and what they put us through at the borders is unreal..I mean I'm an older woman, not Muslim..just a reg. person andd they search everything...and these people were just let through ???????

OP's original post says nothing about Muslims. And the new policies also suspend inspections within 100 miles of the border which all civil libertarians strongly opposed on the grounds that it appeared to be a clear violation of the 4th Amendment.

They are not let though -- what the original post says is that they do not search trucks etc. at the border to look for illegals and do not stop vehicles within 100 miles of the border to look for illegals.

A clear violation of the 4th Amendment against unwarranted search and seizure. As Ben Franklin supposedly said, "He who would trade liberty for security deserves neither."

Please re-read my post, with some expansion for emphasis, it sums up everything:

President Obama is suspending the controversial immigration and illegal drug checkpoints that are between 0.01mi to 100 miles away from the United States border with Canada on state and local highways as well as trains, airports and bus stations.

This means that border patrol will not be boarding buses at the Rochester Bus Terminal and other transportation facilities that are not port of entries.

This means that border patrol will not be stopping vehicles on Interstate 87 (NYS Thruway/Northway) or Interstate 91, 100 miles away from the port of entries.

This does not affect the immigration and customs inspections done at established points of entry at the actual border.

This has nothing to do with Muslims, jewish people, Christians and Gelgamek at least directly.

Additionally, the words Muslim, Islam, Islamic never appeared either in the MSNBC link.

President Obama is not violating any law that mandates inspections and searches 100 miles away from the Canadian border.

I feel safer that power hungry Border Patrol Agents won't be trying to violate my 4th Amendment rights and that I can freely travel within the State of New York without the government having "mere" suspicion that I am committing a crime.

Remember that woman who was stationed at a border point up there a few years ago and she called for backup to inspect a car?

Ressam was apprehended by a female INS Customs agent (present day CBP)at an established port of entry.

We are talking about inspections and searches done 100 Miles away from the United States/ Canada border done by the United States Border Patrol.

Again, these inspections and searches are done from .001 mile to 100 miles away from the physical United States/Canada border

Again, the not as of now unconfirmed "directive" from President Obama has nothing to do with the current immigration and customs inspections done by U.S Customs & Border Protection officers at established port of entries, such as the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge, Ambassador Bridge, etc.

Yes this directive confirmed in the article has affected bus searches for illegals who have been largely Muslim as the OP links show. The Muslims had been complaining about harassment at these bus searches.

You are aware there's a large Muslim population directly across the border in Michigan? You are only trying to censor the other links.

They are not violating your 4th by looking for illegal aliens by the border. If you are by the border expect to be searched. There is a real immigration problem.
