do the contestants on X factor make any money?

They don't get paid, as far as I know.
It's all very, very, very fake though... a friend of mine was a finalist 3 years ago.

They get paid for going on the X Factor Tour afterwards, but even then it's not really much.

Anybody with a fleck of musicality wouldn't go within spitting distance of the X Factor & the likes.

was on here last night, with headphones on, listening to proper music, but in between, to have a piss like, I had to take the headphones off, and HAD to listen to the 'singers' 'singing' because the wife and daughter were watching it.

I agree with you, I think hell come a cropper if he tries to rap EVERY week, Was sorry they got rid of Dexter...Looked like he would have brought some fun to the show.

They don't get paid for the show, only the winner scoops the price, but even then it's only 20% he/she gets, the rest is paid after a year if they make the forecast profit. All of the finalists sign a contract before the first live finals show obligating them to give 50% of all the possible income after the show ends to Simon's company for the next two years, even the winner. They don't get paid for any commercials or any media activity while on the show. Live tour after the show ends pays off each of them £100 per show. That's the true statistics from 2010 show. I don't know if anything has changed since then. I know that now contestants are allowed to have regular contact with the outside world as for going out, using FB or Twitter, we weren't at the time, everything was controlled by the company and our agents.
I guess that's the price you pay for the instant 15 minutes of fame and exposure.

It is a cancer on the music industry churning out thoughtless, uninspired, talentless tripe which in turn clogs the charts and stops any legitimate artist or band from gaining any recognition. My case in point that boy band dressed in winter clothes whining as opposed to singing looking like half man half woman louis walsh's perverse creations.

This is only the 2 nod season of X Factor.

Ok Hun they actually can sing obviously if they couldn't they wouldn't be on the show second if they win they will make more money than you will in your life
