I was only Christian for the first two of those years. I didn't have any problem listening to prayer. If people want to put their faith in a being that I don't personally consider real then fine by me. I'm a Pantheist and I'm a rather liberal individual, but even I can see when being PC gets out of hand. It's a damn football game and nobody is forcing anyone to pray. |

Jesus actually said Matthew 6:5-8 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. [link to bibleresources.bible.com] He already knows both sides want to win...lol |
PrayWithMe User ID: 2608264 United States 10/31/2011 08:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Matthew 6:5-8 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are" Jesus, once again wants you to know that God is more concerned with the motivation of the heart. Hes is saying that Hypocrites pray for all to see because THEY want to be glorified and lifted up in the eyes of men. The real heartfelt pray happens when you are one with God, when you pray to Him and your motivations are about Him and your relationship with Him. There are examples of collective prayer in the bible. The main thing that Jesus is teaching is to NOT be like the Hypocrites, He was NOT teaching that the only time you pray is when you are by yourself. |

It's only just manners! I mean look at what the New Zealand all blacks do before a game? No one is ever going to tell them to stop, they'd get beaten to a bloody pulp! It will continue, just in a different form. They threatened another school earlier this year. The school stopped the prayers, but the fans continued. They can stop the guy with the microphone from praying, but they can't stop 3000 fans. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4355158 ..........I think I'm in love with you!! just kidding...but you are so right.........prayer in a public school setting - of any kind - has NO place in our society...... and beides, isn't it considered blasphemy to pray for a victory in a stupid damn ballgame? these people will never learn that separation of church and state is a part of our deomocracy, whether they believe it or not...... so, folks, go home, or to your church, and pray there.... as the old farmer once said......'when they start teaching readin', writin' and 'rithmatic in church, then I'll pray in the schools'.................. |

Dont you people understand Separation of church and state, it means your government cant force you to have one religion that they endorse, does not have anything to do with weather or not you can pray in public. Free speech, freedom of religion. The founding Fathers beleived if you take God out of this country it would fail. look around you! That obstructs the free exercise of any other religion. Appropriating publicly funded equipment to proselytise is unconstitutional. Public employees engaging in it during working hours is down right scandalous.
