Weed didn't effect me first few years, then I started getting paranoid and didn't talk/socialise as much. After a few weeks of quitting I stopped being paranoid, started going out more again and wasn't as quiet, I didn't want to be smoking around the child or anything. But it effects people different ways, I know someone been smoking it for 15 years and he does not seem to get any of the side effects but in my case I'm defiantly better without it |

Mind you i only smoked organic weed, i know some freinds of mine would complain about 'hang overs' from all the chemical shite thy put in it. If your lifes a fucking mess, smoking weed probably wont help, but perhaps you should concentrate on how to improve your life if thats your aim, rather than just blaming weed. If normality is the measure of how well adjusted one is to a profoundly sick society, then i dont ever want to be normal. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1388145 Also how long after smoking weed did you feel these certain benefits? And any thing else you can tell me that will keep me motivated to stay clean. I have to drop some bad habits to progress in my life, and smoking weed is one of them. I've been smoking weed for 4 almost every day. I notice a difference already just after a day of not smoking and I can't wait to see how a feel in a month...5 months...1 year ...ect ..ect. I'm 30 male, started smoking pot when I was 15 stopped when I was 20....5 years stoned everyday. God has completely healed me from the effects of pot....my mind is sharp....my life is 100% better. After a year I began to regain my dignity. 10 years later I look back and see that giving up pot was the second best descision of my life. The first best descision was inviting Jesus into my heart. Best of luck OP. THIS! |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 4767952 11/06/2011 12:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey guys, MTV's Emmy award-winning documentary series, "True Life" is currently making an episode about young people who are addicted to marijuana and want to stop using. I am reaching out to see if you can help us spread the word about this episode and connect with young people interested in sharing their stories. I've attached our casting notice below that let's people know who we're looking for and how to contact us. Many thanks! CASTING MTV'S TRUE LIFE: ARE YOU ADDICTED TO MARIJUANA? Are you smoking so much marijuana that it's messing up your life? Have you gone way beyond the "typical" pot smoker to the point where you need weed just to feel normal? Is it no longer pleasurable but you keep doing it anyway? Do you continue to smoke despite negative consequences in your life? Is your girlfriend, boyfriend, or family fed up with your use? Do you want to quit but you're finding it hard to stop? Have you looked into treatment programs or support groups for marijuana addiction? Are you smoking large amounts of Spice or K2, a form of synthetic marijuana? If you appear to be between the ages of 15-28 and have answered 'yes' to any of these questions, MTV wants to hear your story. Please send your name, age, phone number, location, a photo, and a brief explanation of your situation to: mtvshowcasting@mtvstaff.com About True Life: "True Life" has been on MTV for over ten years, and it covers important social and personal issues for young people in a straightforward, empathic style that respects its participants and its impressionable viewers. Our style allows the young people to tell their own stories, in their own voices, without a reporter or narrator. We simply follow them through their lives, without affecting their choices in any way, and we capture real life as it happens. Our goal, as with all episodes of True Life, is to put young people across the country in our subjects’ shoes. We hope that, by portraying the most intimate moments of our subjects’ lives, we will help young people understand complex personal and social issues. |

I don't miss it at all, you change as you get older, if it still made me feel they way it did when I was 18, I'd still smoke it. I don't need a drug or substance of any kind to live a happy and fulfilling life and neither do you OP. |
| Neil User ID: 16431268 08/16/2012 05:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I smoked for 2 years straight nearly every single day. Only time I didnt smoke was when I couldn't find any, which wasn't often. Anyway I was a pot head to say the least. I've quit for 3 weeks now so I can I find a new job. Honestly it wasn't hard for me. I mean I still want to smoke, but Im not sitting here all day jonesen for a j. I guess the only things ive noticed is it's harder for me to fall asleep, but if I lay long enough I eventually do. I don't know what to tell you really. It was easy for me to quit. On the plus side though, I don't cough as much but I've quit smoking cigarettes recently so it could be mostly that. Good luck to ya friend. Ps don't smoke legal weed. It's awful Quoting: WrathChild HI One of the best products that I have ever come across to quit smoking is Nicorette Gum and I believe in that product because today with the help of that I used Nicorette Gum that allowed me to actively control on how much nicotine I used & when I used it. I used Low Strength 2mg Gum: Since it was suitable for me, I use to smoke approx 12 cigarettes a day. And so with the 12 Week Nicotine Replacement Plan of Nicorette I quit smoking. Today it’s been almost more than 6months and I don't get any cravings. Thanks and Cheers to Nicorette and its Quit smoking Products. [link to www.nicorette.in] Regards, Neil |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 9611884 08/16/2012 05:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I recently quit too, about 2 weeks sober now(trying to find a new job). I smoked only a bowl a night, after work, for about 3 years. I never really smoked to get stoned though, just buzzed a little to help me calm down after work(I work a very physically demanding job, really stresses me out sometimes). I've been smoking off and on since 18, I'm 30 now. The only effects I've noticed up until this point is that I dream more often now. Time also goes by quicker for some reason now too. I also notice that I dont over analyze shit as much now. Its weird how when your high, its like you come up with all these ideas and shit but never act out on them because you lose the motivation to do anything. It causes you to put things off till tomorrow and when tomorrow comes you forget what you wanted to do lol. |

Running is boring but hiking and climbing can be cool if you have the areas. Do non-couch potato things. avoid being in situations similar to the past, make new friends while doing new things in the areas of interest you are involving yourself. canoeing and kayaking are cool too - I like physical boating, power boating is a little boring. last create a hobie you enjoy, and pursue it, also have a career similar to your hobie (know what you like first, i you don't - start experimenting and find out) It's almost here.... |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 27031811 01/23/2013 08:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I smoked weed everyday for 5 years 18-23, for a while it was an eighth (3.5g's) a day. I wanted to quit from age 19 on, or at least smoke less frequently but I couldn't, I was addicted. I couldn't sleep without it, or have fun without it. When I quit I unable to sleep for 2-3 days at a time for several months, was super irritable, super depressed. I had to go to a doctor and got prescribed neurontin to deal with it. So to the guy above saying that the idea of people getting addicted to weed is a bunch of lies, you're the one lying, some people get truly addicted. If you want to burn trees, go right ahead, legalize it, and enjoy yourself, but addiction is very real. I never felt like I couldn't stop drinking alcohol, so does that mean alcoholics are making it up? Like alcohol, many people never have a problem with weed, but for some people, they can't stop smoking it, it's too good for us. I smoked two packs a cigarettes a day and that was a complete breeze to quit compared to weed. A substance doesn't have to be heroin or cocaine to have the potential for addiction. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 32904797 01/23/2013 09:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had to stop smoking as well, and this is over a year ago now, because I was getting massive psychic attacks while I was high. I mean completely debilitating psychic attacks where I was no longer in control of my body. And yes, it was just plain old weed with nothing added. I know, because my friend grew it where I lived in the States. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 17485914 01/23/2013 09:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | there is only 3 downsides to bud: -its illegal in a lot of places. getting caught in places where its still criminalized could be a problem. -its expensive. if you get decent stuff and smoke daily, you are dropping a decent amount on it monthly. if you cant afford it, that could be a problem. -it makes doing nothing way too much fun. definitely has an impact of your level of motivation and drive. if you are prone to laziness, that could be a problem. if you can deal with those issues, i see nothing else wrong with it. |

Quitting was one of the hardest things I have done. Sucks, but what worked for me was cold turkey. I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, I was miserable. I thank God everyday I was finally able to give it up and life is good without it. |
