In the past we had a pasture fire in TX, and then one here where a neighbor 2 miles away burned debris (should have been a ban) and it took off up the mtn....it burned over 420 acres, some of that our property. The local fire dept sat at our house for a whole day waiting for it to rush down the mtn. The forest dept had to do water drops and the local volunteers did a fire line. It smoldered and moved around and flamed up again alot until we finally had some good rain. That was back in 2005. Almost had to evacuate a few times, smoke building up in the hollow.
The plan was to open the gates and let the cows and horse run off the property to safety if need be. This was very frightening to have happen.
