Tickling your amygdala for increased mental abilities

Mental visualization technique proven to increase your mental capacity, creativity etc. Easy to learn, simple to do, and the knowledge to better yourself is free. Hereīs a couple quotes from the article:

New research in the field of brain and behavior now allows any ordinary person to learn how to control and self-stimulate their own brain for such results as mentioned above. Studies by one particular behaviorist and researcher, T.D.A. Lingo, in his work from 1957 through 1993, has been able to pinpoint this area of the brain which seems to be responsible for releasing enormous levels of untapped intelligence, creativity and pleasure. Additionally, and remarkably so, self-amygdala stimulation frequently additionally turns on such "hidden" brain functions as pre-cognition, clairvoyance, clairaudience, telepathy, telekinesis, and in can even allow the ability for some individuals the ability to communicate with non-ordinary physical and non-physical intelligences and entities.

Lingo conducted a 30-year study of three hundred and nine students and test subjects involved in long and short-term brain education, behavioral, and thought self-modification programs. The resultant increases in intelligence, creativity, and positive emotions were demonstrated and measured by a variety of objective and subjective means, standardized tests and analysis methods. Lingo reports that this included 10 to 40 point increases on the Stanford-Binet I.Q. test, and 500% to 1400% increases on the Getzels-Jackson Creativity Index. Presently, similar results continue to be reported from individuals from across the U.S. experimenting and doing brain-self-control on their own, following the standard procedure and brain "exercises."

...

For example, by simply imagining that you are tickling the front part of each amygdala with a feather, you change the flow of electro-chemical activity in the brain- and voila! This clicks the amygdala forward, if only temporarily.

This imaging alone increases frontal lobes activity and begins increases in creativity, intelligence, and so on. The more frequently you tickle, the more you click, the more pronounced the results. These changes are measurable by modern brain scanning medical instruments such as PET and MRI machines. The brain is a thought machine- and thus, one controls the brain and itīs electro-chemical circuitry with simple thought. (No surprise there!) This simple exercise properly done often brings immediate results, with sometimes very pronounced effects. The brain lab developed hundreds of methods that further refined, accelerated, supercharged, and make permanent the results.

Short of a labotomy, how do you slow your brain activity and thought processes down?

Meditation, bio feed back. Itīs a matter of really relaxing, notice yourself relaxing everything, muscle by muscle, slow your breathing, and focus on doing that, deliberately slow down your heart rate.

It takes a little work at it. But not much.

Then, give yourself beautiful mental pictures, or let your mind wander.

Learning to slow your heartrate is a great tool at the dentist also, or if you have to have surgery. It helps prevent blood loss, and speeds healing.

Can you please give some more techniques on how to click the amygdala forward?

So far the only technique is by simply imagining that you are tickling the front part of each amygdala with a feather, you change the flow of electro-chemical activity in the brain- and voila! This clicks the amygdala forward, if only temporarily.

Not knowing much about the amygdala it seems we each have two so-called nodes. This isnīt a left-right pair thing is it? Can you supply some supporting pics to refer to?

118, is the entire concept heīs teaching bullshit, or just the book. Iīm intrigued by the topic, so are you saying we can glean the info about stimulating the amygdala from the net without reading the book? Doesnīt seem like I would need a $20 book to discover something that probably takes a few minutes to explain how to do.

I bought his book, very reasonably priced by the way. I also joined his mailing list.
This stuff REALLY WORKS!! It just takes some practice if you canīt experience it the first time.

I was fascinated by his info when I found his site, because I often feel the sensations in my forehead and when it happened, I had so many great ideas and I could get my work done so much faster and everything would work out right.

He knows what he is talking about. He is a very sincere guy.

By the way, he was on C2C the other night.

HEY This really does work

but YOU have to work at it

Last december I was stuck with my artwork and while i was working on a project I kept tickling (with my imaginary feather) the amygdala beans forward for as often as I could for 2 nights...

It was amazing , I suddenly had a very brilliant idea about where to go with my art and i am still moving in that direction, it was literally a breakthrough for me

But unless you seriously keep at it, donīt know if it would work

I also tried to visualize where the beans were located in my skull and imagined (saw in my mindīs eye) that they were sending light through my eyes. That seemed to work well too. It does take concentrated and if you have done any kind of meditation it should be easier for you. Go for it!

Cheersrolleyes

Funny but I have been doing this unknowingly for years! It's a bit of a party trick for me, even on the hottest day I can give myself goosebumps on command.

When I read the description above on how to do it, I found it has exactly the same physical effect on me as when I consciously produce goosebumps!

Interesting! Now that I know what it's supposed to do, I'll try it as a meditation technique as well!

Thanks

Asperger people are this way naturally, with hyperactive amygdalas. This is why some are great musical, mathematical or artistic prodigies.

The problem with a hyperactive amygdala is that it is quite easy to get aroused to anger at others. The bar to perceive others as threats and to be disrupted by the behavior of others, is much lower in people with hyper-arousable amygdalas

The reason for that is that the amygdala is also part of the threat signaling of the limbic system.

[link to webspace.ship.edu]

I.e. a hyperaroused amygdala can also make one prone to hypervigilance and aggression.

Hi Aspergirl,

You obviously know what you are talking about, can you tell me if the opposite is true as well?

I have always been almost irrationally drawn to peace! I rarely lose my temper or even get close to it! Loos of temper and agression is something that I abhore in myself and others. I cannot stand disruption and am driven to try and restore peace in my environment whereever it is lost!

Well, the fact that you can't stand disruption means that you are aroused by it, even if your response to the arousal is to be constructive instead of aggressive. It could be that your arousal and motivation to a positive outcome is a coping mechanism you have developed to put your sensitivity to a good constructive use.

Click forward for bliss.

Click backward for piss. as in pissed off reptile brain function.

The patients with over sized amygdalas when they clicked backward flipped out basically in reptile brain gear.
