Shop staff refuse to sell whisky to great-grandmother, 92, because she couldn't prove she was over 18
[link to www.dailymail.co.uk]

A great-grandmother blasted shop staff today after they refused to sell her alcohol at the age of 92, because she had no ID to prove she was over 18.

Diane Taylor was stunned to be asked for proof of age when she asked for a bottle of whisky from her local One Stop Shop in Harlow, Essex.

The great-grandmother-of-three produced her over-60s bus pass, an OAP card and even her pacemaker certificate, but was still turned away because she could not provide a passport or driving licence.

lmao

This is a great example of the complete lack of common sense some people have.

When the food store asked for my license for proof of age I told the girl I don't use a license. Its true I don't use a license to buy beer. She looks at me real funny then calls the manager who swipes a card and the transaction takes place. I don't use a license to travel either, but if I want to drive in a commercial way I still have one available. Just tell them you don't use one. If they want you to identify yourself ask them for a mirror. Then tell them yes thats me.

It's more like a lack of discrimination, and often comes from the top of the relevant food chain, the drones are instructed to follow the rules. Zero tolerance, even if the rules are stupid.

Nanny State thinking.

This happens all the time, and only gets press on slow news days lol. I know if I was a checkout guy and was in a bad mood or having a bad day I'd ID everyone just to be an arse, I'm pretty sure that's what happened here.

I guess what people fail to realize is that if the worker is caught selling alcohol to someone who does not have proper identification, that person can lose their job. they can also lose their driver's license. the company they work for can also be fined.

Is it impossible for someone to put on a costume and makeup and appear to be older than the required age when they are actually not older than the required age?
