yu55 is way to small to have any major affect on the moon, the cretor size has been calculated a 6km across, 200m deep, if you have ever seen the moon you will find many holes of this size.

Anyway the orbit caculations put it quite far from the moon.

FINALLY on the news tonight[msnbc] talked about YU55 passing between the earth and moon.. larger than an aircraft carrier....if hits earth would create a 7.0 earthquake and title wave 70 ft high...

Yeah, not only is helium 3 inert (as someone else pointed out; the very least of your worries would be about a little helium igniting when you have a massive chunks of rock about to hit the earth.

Since Helium 3 comes from Hydrogen, and it is monoatomic in nature, would it turn into gold as it was burned up in our atmosphere? Raining gold nuggets on us!

It is stuff the sun spits out. Helium 3. Helium 1,2, and 4 are the most common. Only Gold can be made in a sun. They say that if you compress hydrogen, which is the parent of Helium 3, and then hit it with a huge energy blast, it will turn into gold. Gold is monoatomic also. I was kinda making a joke about it raining gold, but in reality something like that could happen. Doubtful though, since there isn't enough compression. Although there might be enough energy by burning up in our atmosphere and interacting with our magnetic sphere. I think the chunks of Helium 3 would super expand as they heated, possibly creating little hydrogen bombs? They say it is inert, but expands like crazy when heated to room temperature. It's a gas so it seems it should ignite with enough energy. Our Earth's magnetosphere might be enough to do it? Dunno.
Or maybe it will indeed be raining Gold upon us! Trying to think positive here...

Helium-3 is chemically indistinguishable from Helium-4.
It is inert, it does not burn.

How would Helium-3 burn? It is an inert, non-radioactive gas. It can only "burn" inside a fusion reactor.

You never had a course in chemistry or physics.
