[link to articles.cnn.com] Yeah, Rove should have testified, too, and don't call me a damn neo-con. Sure, executive privilege exists. If Obama wants to get away with this, he needs to assert it, and not pretend this is all just some giant partisan inconvenience. There are legitimate concerns here, not the least of which is a massive fraud perpetrated on the American taxpayer. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |
^TeChNoXiC^™ User ID: 1697575 11/04/2011 09:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On August 1, 2007, Bush invoked the privilege for the fourth time in little over a month, this time rejecting a subpoena for Karl Rove. The subpoena would have required the President's Senior Advisor to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee in a probe over fired federal prosecutors. In a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, Fielding claimed that "Mr. Rove, as an immediate presidential advisor, is immune from compelled congressional testimony about matters that arose during his tenure and that relate to his official duties in that capacity...." Reader. ^This^. Abso-fucking-lutely!! I'm so tired of seeing "legal precedent" and bullshit supreme court yah yah. It's ALL jacked up. They (wide variety of politicians, judges, anyone included) have lost their freaking minds. I can see all the so-called legal jargon quoted all day long, but it does NOT make it RIGHT or even MORAL. Shit, 75% of the "laws and codes" on the books are complete idiotic horseshit. I'm not a doctor; I don't have patience. |

Reader. (OP) User ID: 1617878 United States 11/04/2011 09:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The subpoena called on the White House to produce "all documents referring or relating in any way" to the Solyndra loan guarantee, as well as to investors in the company and to the company's financial condition. The White House said in the letter Friday that "there is no basis for such a broad request," claiming the administration has acted in "good faith" to accommodate the requests so far. Ruemmler said the White House is "willing" to continue working with the committee but suggested they "negotiate the scope" of the documents they want produced. As Republicans pressed the White House for more information, new bankruptcy court documents also revealed that Solyndra executives were paid quarterly bonuses earlier this year worth up to $60,000 apiece. Fox News' Ed Henry contributed to this report. Read more: [link to www.foxnews.com] |

Only a short list of advisor are covered and can refuse to testify in front of congress. Bush never refused to turn over documents. |
