Vision Thing User ID: 4223170 United States 11/05/2011 11:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Someone who lives there and works near the camp told me tonight there had been 2 fatalities so far. I haven't looked up the news stories though. I'm amazed they are letting these protesters camp downtown like this, right in front of the Art Gallery. If a bunch of homeless people had come and set their tents up there, they would have been removed immediately, wouldn't they? W hat if you were vacationing with your family and decided you didn't want to pay the high prices for a Vancouver hotel room, and thought you'd pitch a tent instead? How long would that last? Why is it different for this Occupy crowd? I don't get it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4320724 Canada 11/05/2011 11:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ASFAIK there has only been one death. The other one cited above was someone who OD'd on heroin on Thursday and because he was with someone else, Occupy paramedics were called right away and they initiated CPR, were able to revive him and he was taken to hospital by ambulance. This one is probably another OD only she wasn't with anyone and was found unresponsive in her tent. Vancouver has a huge heroin and crack cocaine problem and hundreds of addicts have been living on the streets there for close to a decade now ever since the sitting government cut way back on welfare and they could no longer afford skid row hotels. It is only logical that they would gravitate to Occupy Vancouver where they are getting services like hot coffee, permission to tent, meals, porta-potties and even medical care. Occupy Vancouver is going nowhere and a poll of Vancouverites has shown that a whopping 75% want it removed. How's that for the 99% speaking out? |

Quoting: WalkersEverywhere Actually we have free health care in Canada. We (and you) have a lot of things the libtards complain we don't have enough of. You watch. And you don't have "free" anything, dumbass. You have taxpayer-funded healthcare. Makes ya wonder about the US OWS beggers wanting osamacare huh |

I get a cold and I can see the doctor every day if I want to at zero charge. It's the best thing next to free. |

I gotta say, it's nice to hear people from other countries discuss their health care, since the US is the only developed nation without some sort of "free", "tax-payer driven", "stick a different label on it so we can fight amongst ourselves" health care plan. i do not agree nor disagree with any proposals from our current administration since there will never be a day where the corporate elite do not rule the game here, but it would be nice as a human living in what some call an advanced society be able to go see a competent health care provider when necessary. |

Although it is not pretty having people camping out in the city parks < Im starting to see a greater good here . A purpose . If so many people are homeless now then to create communities in the parks is a good thing for them. We as a society have failed if we are having an increased amount of homelessmess so we as a society should provide shelter and food and medical care that they are recieving in the Occupy camps. I think its a bloody wonderfull outcome .and im serious . |
