We've managed to trap about 20 in the past 3 years. We take them 25-30 miles away to release them. Quoting: Azila Our ceiling is that plaster drop down kind. I'm usually the only one in here running the show. I get sooo creeped out when they walk above my head and that plaster panel starts to sag above me. I've put moth balls up there to deter them, and they gather the mothballs and throw them outside. I've soaked rags in ammonia and this only works for about a day or two. Apparently their entrance and exit is under this trailer somewhere but yet to be found. I'm thinking there are about 6 up there now. Animal control said they would only come out if the raccoons were actually INSIDE my work space. They dont consider the so called attic work space. So, what deters them? Build a decent office, and this won't happen. |

There's raccoons that hang around my house but they never bother the house. They really take off when they hear the neighbors dogs bark. Maybe a dog would scare them off. With coons you have to release them with 2 rivers between where they were captured and where you release them. Distance doesnt matter. The only true way to make sure they don't get back up in your attic is to seal off all entrances. These MUST be found. You may need to spend the money and hire a professional to seal off any entrances. Coons can get through very small openings. You could also try this: [link to raccoon-x.com] |

LOL, I know it's not really funny but a friend of mine had the same problem...except that his were climbing a tree to the roof and coming down the chimney...so I told him to let the Momma ween the youngsters and then I set traps and put heavy screen over the chimney...and cut down the fuck'n tree they were using as a ladder...all worked perfectly, until his 100% indoor cats got flees! Fuck'n wildlife is out of control! hahaha I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked.  |

My dad has coon hunted since he was a kid. I had problems with coons getting in our henhouse and killing chickens. A full grown coon is a large "small game" animal, but it is amazing the small openings they can fit themselves through. My dad says if they can get their head through an opening then can squeeze their thick bodies through as well. Coons squeezed through openings into the henhouse that my arm would barely fit into. We had to really "bunkerize" the henhouse to keep them out. That along with trapping a few and keeping dogs around has solved the coon problem. Even though you may not like the sound of it, sometimes the only option is to have a nuisance animal killed. |

They were also constantly trying to get into my chicken coop and a few times had where they kill the hems for the eggs inside of them. Then I bought a .22 rifle. |

We pour our piss around the perimeter of the garden to keep rabbits and such from munching on our veggies...I also spread hair clippings around for the same reason... Yeah, thats a problem. Caught the Momma last week but could see 5 little faces peering back. So, I let Mamma go. 5 rotting bodies in the attic walls would be harder to find then a live one.
