I don't like AR's in general, but the bushmaster examples that I believe were made in Maine, at least until recently functioned very well. You should just understand that the AR is really a performance engineered device, and you are getting the cheaper(est) version. There is nothing inherently 'wrong' or 'bad' about these rifles or AR type rifles in general, but you should know what you are getting. |

I go to walmart and buy tons of ammo and beer, sometimes hundreds of dollars worth of each. Its great to sell both items in the same store. Since we are on this subject. I have never owned a firearm but was thinking about getting one for home defense. Can I just go to a store and purchase one? |

We cannot even get close to an automatic rifle in OZ. Do not take memories of what happened yesterday, into what might happen today. They are junk, bottom of the rung materials used and will fail very quick. Spend the same money and go to Academy sport, get the Bushmaster AR15-1A. This is a mil spec Ar that you can put 10,000+ rounds threw with out fail. Same price as wal mart crap. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 3631920 United States 11/09/2011 11:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, see that's exactly what you want. That is one of the MOST robust guns ever built, its a scaled down version of the M1grand-to-M14 action, that's a long development. It will eat whatever ammo you put in it. People say they aren't accurate but this is simply false. The mini-14 is not AS accurate as many other guns, and SOME are bad, but this is true for all production runs of anything. Mine is also stainless and really good out to about ~150 or so meters. At that range I can keep all the shots on an A4 sheet of paper. Mine is also super reliable, even after sometimes not being cleaned for many, many rounds. I have shot all kinds of shit ammo, through mine too. Wolf and other steel case stuff does just fine, plenty of reloads too. As well as military surplus, all worked just fine. This matters more to me then anything really, because in all likely hood I'm much more likely to need it at 5-10-50 meters anyway. The mini-14 is the kind of rifle that you can easily take skiing, and roll down a hill and not be at all worried about damaging the gun. |

Even the hardcore Sig guys are finally starting to admit things have gone downhill since the Cohen takeover. Let me get this straight - Wal-Mart is now offering Sig products? SigArms, the "we have so many govt/LE contracts, we can't be bothered with piddly-ass consumer sales" company? Looks to me like they're squeezing the brand as hard as they can while there's still some brand equity. |
