they have been having those for years here in New Orleans at stores in the bad areas of town. I for one do feel safer if I have to go to one of those stores but i try to stay away as much as I can

I do not see a need for this in the rural area-perhaps in the middle of the Plaza in KC when they have a problem of impending riots or to keep a better eye on stuff-but they seem prone to collapse...if a creative one comes along...

Static, lightly defended military installations are stupid.


If what one is guarding against has no fear, or a shred of determination, those towers simply become ammo and weapon depots for the enemy.

I used to see these a lot. We had them on our military base in italy, but no one was ever in them. I think.

Does not need to be automated...it can easily built to be bigger and tougher.

A wider, stronger support base. With a bigger upper "box" to hold multiple guards.

I was visiting my mother in Naples Fl. I saw one of these being used there. I wasn't sure what it was. I asked my mother and she wasn't sure either she said just one day it was there and it had never left. They have guards in them and she wasn't sure what it was being used for. It was near a dog park that is visited by alot of senior citizens such as my mother with her dog. So i found it a little perplexing it wasn't in an area of high crime or an area that i felt would need crowd control. I also asked a few of her neighbors about and again no one seemed to know exactly what it was for. Nor did they seem to be bothered by it. But it bothered me and something is not right about it. Now they are cropping up everywhere. Where do we live? This is just as bad as cameras on every street corner and street light post. It's scary just what are they watching for?

May I remind everyone that we are fighting terrorism around the world to protect our freedom. (End of sarcasm).

Point is, this whole Department of Homeland Security and TSA crap is just another way of stripping us of our freedoms. After 911, they fed us all with the scare that there was a terrorist behind every corner so they could place these monitoring and control methods everywhere. I'm not talking just about towers, but the monitoring of all your activity via internet, phone, mail, stores, airports, banks, etc... And in the name of 'security' we've let them take more and more away.

And the new breed of police they train these days are trained to see YOU as the threat, not the one they are here to protect.

Really, anyone that's lived in this country for at least 20+ years knows that law enforcement is now alot different than they were. This whole bogus 'War on Terror' is only to make you feel like you need them to take care of you, so you'll easily give your rights away. And they'll tase your ass for speaking up.

And if you try to fight it in court - you'll lose. These agencies are becoming above the law. Ask Jesse Ventura and his fight against the TSA.
