Syria calls emergency meeting of Arab League
President Assad requests summit of regional bloc a day after the body votes to suspend Damascus over bloody crackdown.

Syria has called for an emergency summit of Arab League heads of state to discuss unrest in the country, a day after the regional bloc threatened to suspend its membership if it did not end its deadly months-long crackdown on anti-government protests.

The objective of the proposed summit would be to discuss the unrest's "negative repercussions on the Arab situation", reported Syrian state television on Sunday.

"The Arab League could have imposed immediate sanctions or suspended Syria outright, but surprisingly did not do that. It wanted to send a very strong message to Syria."

The Arab League on Saturday gave Syria a three-day deadline to end its crackdown or face sanctions. If Syria failed to comply, the regional bloc said the suspension would take effect on November 16.

A military move against Syria could also imply intent to attack Iran, just when the Western states want to dispel the fears that the Iranians, Russians and Chinese have of such an attack.

The Arab League's decision to suspend Syria's membership, impose economic sanctions and discuss transition-period arrangements with the opposition, could pave the way to a military offensive on Syria, similar to the one on Libya.

However, it's doubtful whether Western states - who have so far used the lack of Arab support for intervention to justify their inaction - will take advantage of this. That's because, unlike the attack on Libya, an offensive against Syria could have dramatic regional repercussions.

Iran could decide to open its own front and Hezbollah - as leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah threatened last week - could launch an attack on Israel. A military move against Syria could also imply intent to attack Iran, just when the Western states want to dispel the fears that the Iranians, Russians and Chinese have of such an attack.

Perhaps more significant than Syria's suspension is Arab League invitation to Opposition to meet & "agree" transition to post Assad future.

Re: Syria calls emergency meeting of Arab League
Tens of thousands of pro-regime demonstrators gathered in a Damascus square Sunday to protest the Arab League's vote to suspend Syria over its bloody crackdown on the country's eight-month-old uprising.

The protests came after a night of demonstrator assaults on the diplomatic offices of countries critical of the Syrian regime, including break-ins at the Saudi and Qatari embassies and attacks at Turkish representations across the country.

Saturday's Arab League decision was a sharp rebuke to a regime that prides itself as a bastion of Arab nationalism, but it was unlikely to immediately end a wave of violence that the U.N. estimates has killed more than 3,500 people since mid-March.

The protests and embassy attacks are likely to stoke further anger in Arab states against the regime in Damascus. Arab disapproval in itself may not seriously damage President Bashar Assad's hold on power, but if Syria antagonizes Gulf states much further, it risks having them build up the Syrian opposition into a unified body which can win international recognition as happened during Libya's civil war earlier this year.

Assembling the Nations who will fight against the Allies in WWIII.

The Allies vs The Axis

These nations know what is coming and are huddling together. In numbers they stand a chance. Alone, they would die quickly by the US/Israel Military Machine.

If you saw 150+ tanks/motorized vehicles explode simultaneously, you would understand the US Military Machine.
