There`s something evil about the winter, i hate the winter, but i live in Canada, those that live in Cold Climates what are your thoughts on the

bump hell is probably more like winter in sask or ab then it is to hot damnation

I live in Michigan.

I love winter..aside from autumn it's my favorite time of year.

We get a lot of sun here, even when there's snow on the ground. It's not gloomy 24/7 but even if it were I'd still love it. I like what most would call gloomy weather. When I spent some time in Washington and Oregon with the rain and the grey skies I was in heaven. I don't like to hang out in the heat, I don't like to sweat and I don't want to look like a piece of leather by the time I'm 40. I pretty much look dead, I'm so white.

I like to snowboard, snowmobile/sled..pummel people with snow balls, all sorts of fun stuff.

I'm weird I guess.

maybe, because seattle has some of the highest numbers of depressed people in the usa per capita for cities of that size

I'll take your Canadian winters over the ridiculously humid and hot Southeastern U.S. summers any day. lol

I hate winter too... and I live in Texas !

I hate the cold and the dark.

Give me a warm, sunny day and I'm happy...

That is weird, to me because I'm the exact opposite. I've lived in Hawaii the past 15 years and I love sun, the beach and the ocean, and everything that comes with it. I hate being cold, and despise gray gloomy cloudy weather. I'm totally a tropical kind of guy.

The messed up thing is I'm moving back to Oregon (where I grew up) in like 3 days... ugh. :(

Keep your tropical crap. I hate the sun, sunlight and hot weather. I live in Colorado but here in the Denver area it's sunny 300 days out of the year and I hate it. I even hate the weather forecasts that use words like "sunny" "lots of sun" etc, which are all particularly annoying because it shows they presume everyone loves the sun. Lots of us don't and actually pray for clouds, rain, snow...

saying all that winter can be great if you use it to your advantage, theres lot of cool things you can do in a Canadian mountain winter.

snow shoeing, ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, xcountry skiing and skate skiing, tobaganning, bonfires, snowball fights, winter camping, snow forts, snow men, piles of snow then jump off roof or trampoline onto snow, beer league hockey, pond hockey, beers with the boys after hockey or watching hockey, rosey cheeked women drinking coffee with sweet smiles, adorable children in their little puffy snow suits.

winter makes you tough, it makes you think, i think that is good for a person, i think that is why people who live in colder climates are so hearty, thrifty, mechanically inclined and durable because they have evolved differently then people who grew up in warm climates.

I'd take a blizzard over scorching heat, any day of the year.

I'd LOVE to live in Oregon, it's beautiful there regardless of the weather, in my opinion. I went out there in June of this year..I was so taken by it, the forests and the beaches, more specifically seeing all of the starfish and the sea life, the mountains..I don't have that here, none of it. I'm a bit jealous of you.


Sun I don't mind, it's the heat that kills me, I just have no tolerance for it at all. Living here in Michigan it's miserable because of the humidity, the air is heavy, it's hard for me to breathe..I have asthma.

I'm game to visit any place, even the sunny destinations, but I think I would always prefer to live in the so called gloomy areas and any place with snow.

In a blizzard, one has to stay cooped up at home.

On a hot Texas day, I can still get out and do my errands.

Besides... I don't have to shovel heat. ;-)

My friends and I discussed this not too long ago & how your boobs get stuck to you in the heat and how you go through a half dozen bras in the day because you sweat so much.

Forget about it.

I can't wear my kick ass snow gear in the heat anyway..where is the fun in that?

I can tell you live in Texas. We don't shovel anything..we have a super freaking monster snow blower to do the work.

We don't stay cooped up either, I'm like a big kid..I've always gotta get out in it but I grew up here so it's just the norm for me.

OP, look up Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and ways to counter the negativity winter brings... I suffer from SAD myself... Stay strong and before you know it, it will be summer again.

Yep! And I'm a homebody anyway, so being snowed in & only venturing out to play in the snow is fine by me. I've got everything I need right here at home. I've been through enough winter storms here to be prepared for no electricity or running water...

I'll take winter over hot/humid any day. Its much easier to warm up than it is to cool down. Besides, winter brings my family closer together. This is the time of the great sleep which is why it might seem depressing to you, OP.

That bring me to humans- why aren't we hibernating like some other mammals in winter, like bears ??

I live in wi & I hate winter. I hate the cold, I hate snow, I hate driving in snow, & I hate scraping my windshield.

I live in Canada, but it doesn't snow in the winter here, maybe for an hour and then it melts. I love the rain and cloudy days, and I adore snow (especially snow storms) I go outside as soon as there's snow to walk through. I've gotten to liking sunny days more than I used to, it's just the sunlight makes me so drowsy and sleepy...

My favorite temperature is -12 degrees Celsius.
This combined with sun and going with a dogsled is awesome!
The nature in winter in the North is beautiful and then the region is the Nirvana of earth.

Unfortunatily more is happening what OP describes.

One Canadian I met in Mexico said that Canadians are people who had bad karma in a previous life. He said that the snow and ice is the equivalent of hell/ I am not saying that it is true but... many Canadians live in central or south america. They get out as soon as they can make enough to leave canada and only come back when they run out of money and luck.

It's warm inside in the winter thanks to how well the houses are build in Finland. When I was living in London I was really freezing when it went down to 0 C. -20 C here is like nothing.

But I hate going out. Clothing takes time and when you get inside into the underground city & shops you'll be sweating.

Hope they'll enlarge the tunnel system to cover the whole city of Helsinki. Or why not shield the street blocks with a cover & add some infra heating? All-around summer in arctic cities, using self-organizing nanomaterials to build up the covering shield would be cool.

Simple solution would be to connect the cellars and hook entrances to the underground city network. This way you'd never need to go outside in winter.

In the future I can see how the cellars themselves are converted into small shops, and even more deeper layers are build in the underground in case of the sun gets too hot or a new ice-age arrives.

Because unlike animals we're intelligent enough to know how to produce food all year round. Animals rely on what they can find in the wild, it's all luck. Humans are like EFF THAT, I'm gonna make me some crops in the Winter in warm climates and eat meat from wherever I damn well please.

i actually get the reverse of S.A.D. i start to get depressed around March time

I love Michigan and I like the snow, but I do not like the SAD that can come with it.

totally agree ---i love the winter too...i will say though if evil equals supernatural, i feel the presence stronger in the winter.
