Nah I don't want any handouts. Actually I thought I had 80 bucks and I saw a girl at the Va about 11 years old who's shoes were falling apart, so I offered her mother to buy her new shoes so she didn't have to walk in the snow with her currents ones. I was fully ok with spending my last dime on her, but I didn't have what I thought. Just a rough time I suppose

So you can afford a cell phone, which is obviously a good one seeing as how you can get online and post to this website, and a monthly bill, but you can't keep gas in your car.

Little advice for you, when money got tight for me, the first thing to go was my cell phone.

I have sold my big screen TV, video game systems, anything it doesn't matter.

When you have to decide between eating and going online, make the sensible choice.

I don't have sympathy for those who can't manage their money.

I'm about 3 days from being homeless, I can't be around people bc of what happened in the military, I have a 3 year old daughter who is the only thing keeping me alive right now. I have a bottle of ambien I wish I had the courage to take the whole thing and never wake up. Trinity if you see this, I wanna say your website has given my crazy brain a lot to keep occupied in the darkest days, and I will forever be in your debt bc without it I might have tipped over the edge.

The only people who could have helped me was the Va and they told me it wasn't important enough, giving me the feeling my service towards this country was for nothing.

I hope if someone out there thinks they have it bad and are thinking about ending it all, that they read this thread so you know you're not struggling alone, and maybe someone out there even has it worse than you. Be strong, fond a reason to be and I wish you the best

I've heard if you leave your dl with the gas attentend there suppose to give you some gas......o so i heard. Try it its worth a shot, you'll just have to come back later and pay somehow.

If you truly want help, go to your county mental health office. You'll get preferred treatment for being a veteran and they can hook you up with social services etc., emergency funds, etc. You say you're too proud to take a handout, well think of it as a hand to pull you up.

Ages ago I hitch-hiked across the country with about $20 in my pocket. My first night out, I'm trying to figure out where to sleep and then it dawned on me. Right in front of me was a huge tree/shrub thing. I crawled in and went to sleep. I had a piece of plastic and a cheap sleeping bag but was comfy. Always look for bushes/shrubs planted my man. Just seems to be better manicured in/around it. More comfortable than out in the bush.......
