Op, thank you for such a thoughtful post during these sad economical times. It can be done just as you say. Your family is blessed to be in your loving care.

yes and much of OP's menu is SHIT store bought crap. And you ones should really drop that turkey, cheap though it is, because they are raised cruelly, you are not giving thanks to god using them at all. And they are full of chemical SHIT to make them "juicey" that is composed of phosphates that will increase your arthritis, which is WHY they use phosphates and they take of the chemicals, they are awful. Who says you have to do turkey, custom?????? How can you ones stand to eat them, for the chemical taste. Last time before I went off flesh, I had purchased more than one because I used to can turkey during the holidays to us in soups and casseroles all year long and we could not eat the canned turkey, it really tasted BAD, the chemicals just "bloomed" during the canning process.

You people are charged to care for the body which is the temple of your soul this journey and that includes what you feed it.

Buy and consume the cleanest food you can get and to HELL with eating a polluted bird for thanksgiving. You are MIND CONTROLLED TO EAT this Shit, and do not let your relatives convince you to do so to maintain a dangerous "custom". But we always eat turkey for thanksgiving is NOT an excuse. Find a back bone and SHOW a better way.

Oh, NIP, I think a lot of people that are struggling finically go to the grocery store and do what they have to do. Not everyone has the luxury of a garden or even friends with a garden. I know I've found myself many times buying 89 cent hot dogs and 23 cent ramen noodles.

Health conscience eating can be extremely expensive for those that don't have a garden. And im finding even local farmers markets are very expensive.

OP gave a wonderful idea for people that are low on cash. I agree with careful planning a much more nutritious/ healthy meal can be had, but again, many people rely on coupons and sales and the things that are offered in those are always processed/unhealthy foods.

I finally decided to grow my own of a lot of things, would love to have chickens as well but my zoning doesn't allow it.

I eat WELL on vegetable foods for far less than the CRAP in the stores. and when cash is good, stock up on sales. Meat WILL KILL YOU. especially that these days. And once you give it up, it tastes even worse. People have the power of their money, don't buy the shit and it will disappear from the stores.

I am even going back to canning if I want some convenience and saving on containers, that don't land up in land fills. There is no excuse for living like you ones do, you have power n your churches and groups to change this world.

I don't have a garden right now, because something is wrong with my dirt and shit won't grow in it. I have been rehabing the soil for 2 years now. But my small space I have to garden doesn't supply a large amount of my food anyway. Only fresh stuff in summer.

I'm not arguing your stance on food, though I do eat meat. I personally know the farm that was in the movie "food Inc" , I just think you are going about it the wrong way, teach, don't scold. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar, friend.
