Not everyone has the luxury of a garden or even friends with a garden. I know I've found myself many times buying 89 cent hot dogs and 23 cent ramen noodles. Health conscience eating can be extremely expensive for those that don't have a garden. And im finding even local farmers markets are very expensive. OP gave a wonderful idea for people that are low on cash. I agree with careful planning a much more nutritious/ healthy meal can be had, but again, many people rely on coupons and sales and the things that are offered in those are always processed/unhealthy foods. I finally decided to grow my own of a lot of things, would love to have chickens as well but my zoning doesn't allow it. JenniO, the worst brand anywhere, $7 for ONE up to 15.99 lb. on all the above the limit is one. larger birds are $2 more per each. the price on additional birds, is 1.39 a pound. Obviously if you need a lot of terrible birds, you buy one of each on sale, take them to your car, and go back in and get more UG..... these are POISON people. and they taste like poison unless you have such corrupted taste buds you can't take the chemicals. Why would you do this to your bodies, and also to the childrens bodies? |

But my small space I have to garden doesn't supply a large amount of my food anyway. Only fresh stuff in summer. i have lived on a restricted budget forever. I don't waste money on foods anyway, I prefer to spend money on something else where possible. I KNOW THE ROPES AND IF YOU ONES STARTED TO ACTUALLY COOK, YOU WOULD SAVE HUGE AMOUNTS ON YOUR GROCERY BILL AND IF YOU GAVE UP POPS AND OTHER SUCH SHIT, YOU COULD ACTUALLY AFFORD FOOD. LOOK AT WHERE YOU WASTE MONEY. THERE ARE HUGE CHEMICAL FACTORIES IN NEW JERSEY THAT MAKE THE POISONS THEY PUT IN YOUR FOODS THAT YOU ARE ADDICTED TO AND WHICH HARM YOUR BODY TEMPLE. Make a meal plan, I do let him decide which meals he wants which days (some meals are made with left overs and it's denoted in the menu) giving him that choice has helped immensely. Then after about 2 months when he saw the savings he was on board! OP Good post- we are suposed to be thankfull for our bounty most of us dont even have a garden, it is sad yes but we can only do what we can... Yes, the taste may be fantastic...however, heating oil high temps creates free radicals, plus the process of making the oil...i.e., corn, peanut, is a high heat process in itself. So I stay away from the deep fryer as much as possible...but once a year ain't gonna hurt you...'cept, I might get a belly ache from it cause I'm not used to that process of cooking. I'd try a tiny bit, and if my tummy is okay an hour later, I'll indulge more... :) Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are truly a nation of many blessings. Quoting: Old Coot Not really familiar with American shopping, but common sense would suggest that following this suggestion would increase your chance of not getting a turkey at all, since they will all be sold out. ^this.. last year I went a couple days before and there were NO turkeys at all at walmart. Went to publix and they only had like 3 of the huge ones. I needed a small one for my sons school since the other volunteer backed out last min. So I had to get a ham lol... kids liked it better anyway lol Aside from the turkey... the rest is very doable.. stovetop stuffing is cheaper then doing it yourself though~ Although homemade mashed potatoes are cheaper and way better then instant. But instead of crossants I use the hawaiian sweet rolls, and make a topping of melted brown sugar and cinnamon and drip it over the tops before putting them in the oven for a min~ sooooo gooddd~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Proud Mommy |
