Re: Thanksgiving = Sweeping The Ugly Truth Under the Rug
"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it."
Edmund Burke

There are no holidays celebrated today that have not lost most or all of their original intent.

Native Americans for the most part do NOT celebrate Thanksgiving for the reasons thought by most. We celebrate on a Native American Day, a feast of sorts, and have for a very long time as well as at our dances.

The Native Americans were treated like animals by the white man for greed just as is happening today with other cultures, period.

My great grandmother was an Indian slave until she married at a very young age and then refused to admit to anyone outside the family what her heritage was. SAD. Her parents were killed on the trail of tears.

There were some tribes that were not so civilized and could be brutal when their space was encroached upon, however most were a very peaceful people. It is one thing for you to argue in your own home but it's another for an outsider to come in and cause pure chaos with the intention of dividing your family so they can get something you have. This is basically what happened.

What is the saddest part of this particular piece of our history is that we, humans, have continued to repeat the same process for the same purposes over and over with all people in a lot of nations. refer to bold quote above.

Enjoy and be at peace with your family and what you have everyday, not just on holidays.

Another woman completely destroyed by propaganda. There are so very few real women left these days.

You say peace, but you do not speak of any. You speak only of hate and you only listen to one side of the story. That is not peace, nor is it a sign of intelligence.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1073688

And what side would that be?
Please explain and leave your useless personal jabs aside or you lose all credibility.
 Quoting: DoodleBug

Do you know why the white people killed Native Americans and took over their land? That's what nations did back then. It didn't matter what race you were, what skin color you were, white men were more powerful at the time, so that stimulated their ability to conquer. Things were not like they are now. If you were weak, you were taken over. That's just how things were. The slaughter of the Native Americans was inevitable. To focus your hatred on the white men is ignorant. You are ignoring the entire time period. You are narrowing your view of history. You are ignoring life, and the way it works. You are even further narrowing your view if you were to blame men in general. Not all white men are power hungry conquerers.... It is senseless to go around hating white men all day because of the few power hungry among us. It is a part of life.

Most of all, you are ignoring the ENORMOUS good among white men. White men have brought a great understanding to this world through fields such as medicine, science, and mathematics and in-turn has helped this world become a much better place for us to live.

You hate because you are afraid of us. You watch these rape commercials, read of rape on the news, listen to your fear filled hateful music, listen to your feminist propaganda all day, marxist propaganda, MSM propaganda. It has blinded you, and so many others from the truth that there is an incredible amount of good among white men. Instead now, you are only capable of seeing the bad. I don't know you? Wrong, I know people like you very well, I have studied them very thoroughly, and I know them when I see them.

It saddens me to see someone in your condition.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1073688

Ya know...you either did not read my post or do not understand what I said in it.

I DO NOT HATE ANYONE...got that? My grandmother ended up marrying a white man.

The rest of your post does not even pertain to this thread or my post.

BTW, I rarely and I do mean rarely watch television so your other blah blah makes no sense either.

What we did to the American Indians was horrible.

Thanksgiving was a time when we got along with the Indians because we needed their help.

Dont forget there are tribes up in Canada and the Canadians did NOT treat them much differently.

americans will get pay back tho...happening now

Reading a book about the CT Indians about 1968, I found that two starving indians came into a woman's house in Westport, when her husband wasn't home, (during a snow storm) and they took/ate a loaf of bread . THEN residents of Westport and Norwalk sent out a call to New York/Long Island to bring their guns AND HELP THEM WITH THEIR 'REVENGE' !

What follow was a slaughter of the indians in the region. They drove them into the swamps between the two towns and any that came out of the freezing winter waters were SHOT. The rest died from exposure.

What a WONDERFUL way we had of teaching the indians the Christian way of love and forgiveness. Revolted me then; still does !

The lie here, is the belief, that all the nations of indians, were peaceful, and never committed atrocities upon one another.
 Quoting: Clownkiller

No, not all were peaceful, but some were. Regardless, that does not justify what was done, not even close. The fact is that they were here first, and they were kicked out of their land. It was theirs and it was because of greed that their land was stolen and they were murdered.

Some americans are savages too. Some are, and some aren't.

You don't judge a whole nation of people because of the acts of some.
 Quoting: Lisa*Lisa

That's EXACTLY what you are doing... Judging the entire US for shit that happened hundreds of years ago. You should really waste your time looking for a home in Canada. You people who constantly bash the country, yet reap the benefits and STILL LIVE HERE....if its so bad why don't you move? It's not like you're saying 'wow, we really did some bad things in the past as a nation, but I love my country and am going to TRY MY DAMNDIST to make it better'

No, instead you do what every woman does. Bitch with no solutions.

Seriously, just move out of the country and all your false guilt will wash away. Cause we're such terrible people. Did you post this from OWS?

Many whites are aware of the predictions that the whites would come and destroy our way of life, very few have heard the rest of the story because it has been carefully concealed by your religious and political leaders, who whipped you into a fury of hatred and bloodshed. Not only did we see you coming, we saw you going, and it won't be long now before you destroy yourselves and most everyone else with your ways. It won't be pretty, either.

Thanksgiving = Sweeping The Ugly Truth Under the Rug.

The atrocities that were done against the Indian people were horrific and cruel. Atleast recognize the truth about this "holiday". To deny it is another insult to the Indians that were slaughtered and forced out of their homes and their land. They were kicked out of the land that was theirs for hundreds of years, sent away on a "trail of tears" to unknown territory where many died on the way, and many others died when they got there from diseases and starvation. It never should have happened.

Jesus warned the Indians of the white man that would come with "sticks that killed from a distance". He cried when He told them about what white man would do to them because He knew! He knew about the murders, the atrocities that white man was going to do to the Indian people! He knew that their land would be stolen from them, many would die and life would never be the same for them again!

Yet, this lie of thanksgiving goes on, like nothing ever happened. In schools, children dress up like pilgrims and indians..and everybody is happy.....but nobody mentions the death and horror that really occurred.

How would the Jewish people feel if nobody ever acknowledged the holocaust? How would the Christians feel if nobody acknowledged our people being fed to the lions? How would Veterans feel if nobody remembered the vets that died in the wars?

It happened.......and it's a sad and sorry part of our history that just gets swept under the rug like it never even happened.

If people want to celebrate "thanksgiving", then it should be a memorial for all of the Indians that were murdered and abused at the hands of white man because that's the truth, that's honest and that's the right thing to do.

"Some aspects of the conventional story are true enough. But it's also true that by 1637 Massachusetts Gov. John Winthrop was proclaiming a thanksgiving for the successful massacre of hundreds of Pequot Indian men, women and children, part of the long and bloody process of opening up additional land to the English invaders. The pattern would repeat itself across the continent until between 95 and 99 percent of American Indians had been exterminated and the rest were left to assimilate into white society or die off on reservations, out of the view of polite society.

Simply put: Thanksgiving is the day when the dominant white culture (and, sadly, most of the rest of the non-white but non-indigenous population) celebrates the beginning of a genocide that was, in fact, blessed by the men we hold up as our heroic founding fathers.

The first president, George Washington, in 1783 said he preferred buying Indians' land rather than driving them off it because that was like driving "wild beasts" from the forest. He compared Indians to wolves, "both being beasts of prey, tho' they differ in shape." Thomas Jefferson” president #3 and author of the Declaration of Independence, which refers to Indians as the "merciless Indian Savages" — was known to romanticize Indians and their culture, but that didn't stop him in 1807 from writing to his secretary of war that in a coming conflict with certain tribes, "[W]e shall destroy all of them."

And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light.  It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. jesus was probably in the americas during that 30 year period he was mia. mia = messiah in america.

you know the story. his birth was so significant that herod was performing mass genocide to extinguish the baby jesus. the heavans literally shined in jesus' honor and wise men came from afar to celebrate his birth.

and then...nothing.

then a year later...nothing.

then 10 years later...umm nothing.

then 20 years later...still nothing.

then 30 years later...finally, he gets to work...

why is someone who is so important in history, so missing from it? heres a hint...30 x 12 = 360

way to go lisa lisa... you have fallen for tptb biggest scam: good ole hate whitey christians. nevermind that the 'indians' were heathens and worshipped demon gods... you do know that the pilgrims considered themselves israelites and america was their promised land.

who do you think writes the false history that you now embrace? why should this surprise me.. you follow once4all around like a lapdog not once questioning 'the spirits' he is communicating with. 1 john 4 says to test the spirits.

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3840599

I am of the same mind here..it is sad and horrible that so many Indians died but..look at the other facts that the Native Americans had died in large numbers not only in America but South America at the hand of the SPANISH. They died of small pox, and other communicable diseases that the SPANISH carried here long before the Pilgrims. And the fact that the Natives were killing each other off in Tribal disputes that we cannot have facts to because they had no written language. We still don't know what really killed off the Anasazi but it wasn't the Pilgrims or the White Man..Despite their successful culture, the Anasazi way of life declined in the 1300s, probably because of drought and intertribal warfare.
So go on about how "EVIL" we were to bring Christianity to America Lisa.. And South America.. remember Pizarro btw.. and Hawaii.. ok so that is ok because the Hawaiian culture was so cute and hey who doesn't like Poi.. and oh then there is Africa..I suppose we need to pay reparation to the Native American Indians and the Africa's where culture is sooooo wonderful (don't get me started).
Bad premise and try for a minute living in a teepee and counting on the fall Buffalo kill to make it through the winter..no hot water no electrical grid.. geez.. like America is so bad.. all those horrible Christian Holidays.. like Christmas and Easter. Go on Lisa you are digging yourself a very deep hole.

Re: Thanksgiving = Sweeping The Ugly Truth Under the Rug
If you're Bible pounder, then you must believe God created everything. That includes HIS laws of nature. Lets start on the micro level.

DNA. 2 traits are present during conception, but only the dominant trait remains. When a biological entity enters the blood stream, it is either killed off by our good anti-bodies, or it's stronger and infects our body...we get sick. Why? because the stronger bacteria prevailed.

Nature- survival of the fittest. A mother cub will abandon the weakest cub if its a detriment to the rest. Cruel? Seems that way, but that's God's law...that's how life is created and destroyed. If everything was harmonic in that particular way, there would be over population.

Now comes man, who all throughout history has done just this. Now in the age of 'feelings' we reject anything of the sort, yet is completely opposite of our nature and creation.

If you have a problem with Darwinism, take it up with God. There's a reason for everything, including why despite all ethnicities were created around the same time and equally (yes some disagree with that) Europeans advanced incredibly further than anyone else. Why? Again, ask God...He's the creator, and the laws of nature were put in place by He whom you praise.

I'm so sad at the lack of care or compassion that so many have displayed in this thread twords the american indians and what happened to them. It's a pity that so many hearts are cold twords the suffering of others.....
 Quoting: Lisa*Lisa

Lisa, you plainly fail to discern what's going on here. Innocent white people now alive today, are very sick and f***ing tired of endlessly being blamed for everything that's wrong ith the world, and most especially, being blamed for things that were done by *other white people* before we were even born -- slavery, Indian genocide, crusades, whatever. For additional irony, a lot of those white folks actually have some American Indian ancestry in their lineage somewhere.

Here's the psychology of it: When one is falsely blamed, over and over and over, for some atrocity, after a while when that atrocity is mentioned, your first reaction ceases to be compassion and sorrow, and instinctively becomes DEFENSE instead.

For example, when the shooting spree happened to Gabrielle Giffords et al, a certain Christian I know, MOURNED over the fact that endless years of gun-control activism had blunted his ability to have compassion: "I know my first reaction should have been prayer, sorrow, compassion... but years of getting bludgeoned by the anti-gunners has warped me: my first reaction was, "Here we go again, the bastards are going to use this to disarm the good guys..." That was his automatic reflex, even though he didn't WANT to feel that way.

And so it is with race-blaming. Whites who were deeply saddened about the atrocities of the past when they first learned of them as children, start to take on a very different attitude when they find that they, themselves, are being wrongfully blamed for it today, just because they're white. They first become defensive -- "Hey, don't look at me, I didn't do it!", and later on, after that doesn't work, contemptuous and dismissive as you see on this thread. Their eventual attitude is, "Well, if [aggrieved group X] is so wickedly unfair, as to blame me for something I didn't do, I guess they aren't very nice people after all. Maybe they had it coming... Maybe they were brutal themselves..." And of course, if they look into the history, they'll find that indeed, those groups WERE quite brutal: Indians genocided other Indians, Blacks enslaved other Blacks, etc, LONG before Whites showed up, and so forfeit all claim of moral superiority.

So eat your turkey and give thanks to God already.

So this was not the Americans rather the pope's empire, as usual.

Fact of the matter is the Indians, already "were" worshiping in the Meso-Americas..
They worshiped the same morning star the Christian's worshiped..they just did things literally..

I also have sympathy for the way Native Americans were treated by whites in this country. It was not something to be proud of. But what race of humans has not done the same thing at some time throughout their history?

And then I wonder who wiped out the people that were in North America before them. Couldn't have been what we call "Native Americans" currently - could it? (Sarcasm).

The oldest human remains discovered thus far in North America are Northern European Caucasoid. And who knows? These early Northern Europeans in America probably wiped out whoever was before them and so on, and so on.

Humans. We are what we are. Though you'd think that after all this time we would learn something somewhere along the line.

I'm just getting tired of someone always trying to destroy our family holidays every Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. The holidays are what we make of them.

So Happy Thanksgiving everyone and here's hoping you still have something to be thankful for. Enjoy your family time and concentrate on the good things in your life.

If I felt like replying, I would. The fact is that I"ve been spending time with my family this afternoon, so sorry if that's not acceptable to you.

There is just too much hate around here, and I don't want to absorb it. So when people get really nasty with me, like now, I just leave for a while instead of returning the hate, I just let it go.

None of the nasty comments here have changed my mind one bit. Alot of words have been put into my mouth, things I never said or implied, and I don't bother responding to insults and lies, or nasty posts.

I said that the things that happened should be remembered and not forgotten or twisted around in history books to make it look like something that it wasn't, and that's the truth. I believe in truth, even if it isn't nice or pretty.

Have a great day....I'm going to go enjoy the rest of mine.

please forgive lisa lisa, she knows not what she does. fyi, Christians worked as missionaries to try to save many of the 'native americans' but heaven forbid anyone look at that in a positive light.... most see that as 'oppression'.

And, by the way, I"m a white christian too, I don't hate my own people, but I hate the fact that they don't teach the truth.

Stop the hate!

Stop the hate and tell the truth.

way to go lisa lisa... you have fallen for tptb biggest scam: good ole hate whitey christians. nevermind that the 'indians' were heathens and worshipped demon gods... you do know that the pilgrims considered themselves israelites and america was their promised land.

who do you think writes the false history that you now embrace? why should this surprise me.. you follow once4all around like a lapdog not once questioning 'the spirits' he is communicating with.

There are an estimated 35 million Pilgrim descendants in this country, according to professional genealogists. They can't ALL be rich. The only 2 I have ever known, were hardworking middle class.
