AWAKENING THE SLEEPING GIANT

Pushing, picking, pecking
Pester, nag and annoy
The governmental institution is so much less than this, and yet so much
More invasive, because we ask it to nurture our every whim
We were innocent of course
The road to hell is paved with good intentions
It's difficult to define a hatred for something that works so smooth
So slick, slithery and precise, it makes us feel like children.
We aren't needy and what it does is hard to explain...
We grow the food, clean the roads , build the memorials....
Police the city, teach the children, write the laws...
We know they provide us with nothing
We behave on our own.
We teach our own children, and love each other freely
We nurture each other without instruction
The hypocrisy drives us crazy
The red tape
Photo ops
Waste and lies and cheating and excessive wealth
Fear and hunger and angry young cops
Makes us mad
Backwards
It's backwards, and it's waking the sleeping giant ....
Like a fly to close to the ear....
Like a bad dream to terrible to see
