OK GLPers My Wife wants either an Ipad or Android Tablet for Xmas. Which one?

If she like the music and videos, the games and ease of use, plus the nice looking aesthetic feel, then the Apple is the right choice...

However if you hate her, then Android is the right choice :)

I would go Android, as Google is open source and is just beginning to penetrate into music, tv, etc. I would expect the Android platform to look a lot better than Apple in 1-2 years.

If she visits GLP then choose the android so you can watch GLP flash videos.


The iPad can only watch posted Youtube vids. GLP video doesn't work on an iPad.

I'd go android too. Although the apple package is much desirable, there is one HUGE tick on the con list..

Apple is too closed off. And, the lack of flash is a big deal, as most every video or website nowadays uses flash. How many use quicktime or whatever apple code?... none.. You will feel forever limited in that respect.

I'd get an IPAD2 if it wasn't for that flash deal. I want to be able to do what I do on my computer, on a tablet...

Do have to add though it depends on the user. Android takes a little more know how b/c it is open source, but can do MUCH more.

Apple is for the masses who want spoonfed what they are allowed to do, and, a lot of people choose it for just that.

I'm a tinkerer, and want the most for my money, so i'm going android..

Get her a food processor, that should send quite the message.

Get her a kindle. much more superior. Especially the older kindles, they are much, much easier on the eyes.

Ipads are like reading on the computer, glossy and stuff, and it will kill your eyes after a while.

she will be much more happier in the end.

Two years and havnt ever felt limited. Actually a lot of big name website have made a homepage for ipad users
In addition, Hulu, Netflix, HBO, ABC ext. have made free apps that also cater to the ipad. so no flash, no worries.. Apple=Simplicity, Android=trying really hard

Yes, go for an android!

On an I-Pad, there is too much spyware stuff, which can't be switched off! Apple can always logg into your computer and read out your data without you even noticing it!

Another big point of an android tablet is, that you have an USB or micro-USB port and this is even more important than flash!

Give her BOTH. The more time she spends trying to figure it out for herself, the less time you have to live with her.

The new Kindle Fire is useless in Canada. All content is blocked. The regular Kindle only has access to a few thousand books, not the millions that the US has access too. Amazon and their content providers think that our Copyright laws are too weak, hence blocking shit.
