Well, come on over to my place - we've got 4 trees loaded with ripe nuts right now - just need to get someone to climb on up and harvest them for us

No - moved into a house for the rainy season - right across the road from the beach - the waves still lull me to sleep. :)

Lol, so hard for me. I was a restaurant cook and then Personal Chef for years and years. Food is my craft and my passion. This is what I decided to post here after I talked myself out of writing shrimp and crab and lobster and clams and mussels and Chilean sea bass all strung together like one word. That might've been embarrassing.

afro

Of course, firstly, can't mention food with making a beeline for chocolate...but chocolate doesn't count. It's not a food, it's an angelic being here on the planet to share it's loveliness with humanity.

But I'm stalling on answering a very difficult question...hoookay--

Since I haven't had it in so long, too long, I'm going to say Dim Sum.

And I don't want to make it myself. I've done it before.

I want to go to a Dim Sum house and have assorted dumplings with a copious amount of Tsing Taos...dimmit.

chuckle

I love to cook, though. We kicked it yesterday on the T-day dinner. It was lovely. It's also one of my all time favorite meals. I usually end up making a full blown turkey dinner in June or July just because I love it so much.

We have a winner!

I cooked up a little more than 2 1/2 quarts of oysters this evening. Had some fries as well, but dang those Rappahannock river oysters are great!

Some of them were nearly 3 inches long and THICK!

LOL - I know I'm strange, but it's either black olives or strawberry Twizzlers with raw, fresh mushrooms a close third.
 Quoting: Faith

Then again, it's pretty hard to beat a nice sirloin steak grilled with just s touch of olive oil, black pepper, and Kosher salt.

I had a veggie tray for supper and this thread is really making me hungry.
 Quoting: Faith

Zero's all time best ever mushroom steak:

Chop an onion, 3-4 cloves garlic and a handful of: Rosemary, Thyme and sage (fresh from your garden if possible) Go heavy on the thyme and chop fine.
Slice about 300g of mushrooms
Prepare your raw steaks by rubbing sea salt and cracked pepper into them before you cook them.
Get a good heat under a big sauce pan and put in a nice knob of butter.
Put in onion, garlick and herbs and mix around till soft and glossy.
Pour in 1/2 to 1 cup of liquid beef stock.
turn heat down a little and simmer till the stock steams off a bit.
Add mushrooms and simmer till the mushrooms become part of what is now becoming a sauce.
Cook steaks at high sear in a little butter for around 5 mins per side in a big, deap fry pan(Get nice steak guys, why eat cheap steak?).
Remove steak and place on a plate under tin foil to rest.
Pour mushroom mixture into fry pan (careful the pan's not too hot!) and get all the caremalised steak off the pan into the sauce.
Add 500ml of thickened cream and mix well until it thickens.
Season with sea salt and cracked pepper.
Add the juices from the rested steaks and simmer for another minute or so as you plate up the steaks and the potato bake (recipe on page 2) and some nice steamed asparagus.
Pour mushroom sauce over steak.
Get ready for the adoration of your family as you all eat the best steak ever.
REMINDER: Steak is an expensive luxury, if you're going to eat it, spend the extra and get really good young Angus beef. Cheap steak is just a waste of money and effort.

Anything Mexican or Italian.

I've had cow brain tacos, a few Mexican friends shared theirs with me. Was not too fond of that. I should probably say Mexican food that doesn't include organs.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

Just make sure the damn thing is cleaned properly after it's slaughtered so you know how they serve food and practice food safety. My sister had some Mexican neighbors who killed a goat and BBq'd it and gave her a plate and it made her so sick she wound up in the hospital. She's allergic to everything in the whole damn world, too!
even hydrocortisone creams1% will break her out in hives!
lol. Valium makes her hyperactive as shit! And she can't take codeine or penicillin, either or sulfur drugs. allergic to all perfumes and dyes, too.

A Man Has Got to Know His Limitations

I am just a sinner trying to make it to heaven!

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Anything Asian - Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese. If I had to narrow it down to one dish, I'd say pho soup. Could have it daily, but don't know how to make it and it's expensive to buy. When I get sick, though, or have a day where I'm just feeling yucky, I know who will take care of me.
