Russia does what is best for Russia. If joining the US in military action against Syria results in a net economic gain they will do it. Most likely they'll keep their naval base in a post Assad Syria and they'll be given a stake in the resources there. In actuality they probably won't even fight, they'll just be bribed to stay out of the way.
