ROAD KILL CAFE - Readers rite rotten restaurant reviews

Whats the worst meal you ever had? Not just the food, but the service, other customers, surroundings, rip off prices and other factors all combine to make a "memorable" dining experience.

Having sold advertising space for about 15 years I have a head start (did you think that your local paper actually pays someone to write all those puff pieces) on most of you having worked for such well known publications as The Hareld Examiner, ceased publication cos it got eaten up alive by the Los Angeles Times. The Los Angeles Reader, ceased publication cos it got eaten up alive by the Los Angeles Weekly. The Beverley Hills Post, ceased publication because the managers forgot to file on time at the local courthouse so that it could continue to be a paper of general circulation, thereby losing the 3 or 4 pages of legal advertising that it carried every week that kept it afloat. The Century City News that ceased publication cos the owner played to his own political agenda and did not follow the line of the local elite.

But it´s not all that hard. The main thing is that besides describing the meal, you need to let us know how many cockroaches you saw creeping along the wall, rats in the kitchen, uncleared tables, fag ends floating in the coffee cups as such like. What was nthe service like? The decor, the nearby area and everything else that added to your fine dining experience.

When you have written your review you need to award the restaurant dead horses as follows...

I should have known better than to order the special! Hamburger and chips (fries to the yanks) I got a small meat pattie on a little bun and some chips. That was it no pickle or dressing of any kind and it cost £1.95 which is about $3.50. The service was slow. the seats where all torn and the place hadn´t been properly cleaned since it opened.

...3347 I don´t have a review at the moment (hard to pinpoint just one...), but my hat´s off to you for 15 years of selling ads! I work for an independent newspaper publisher who has successfully resisted any and all attempted buy-outs. I won´t name the papers, but I appreciate how hard our people work at selling those ads. Or...I should say...the space on a blank page.
