multiculturalism has and never will be an issue, the issue is FEAR... it is through fear that man has a lack of understanding and consideration for others. people are so afraid to accept change, diversity, equality, etc. because they don't know what will happen next.

it is fact that whites feared what they didn't understand and that is why they enslaved blacks. blacks have actually always been a head in some type of way in certain aspects, last i checked the greatest European philosophers study in Africa.

if anyone still doesnt believe, last i check if blacks were so inferior why is the washington memorial an egyptian structure, or the dollar bill has a pyramid on it?

even better why was jesus christ not born to a german, a scott or any other european?

P.S. if america is failing because of multiculturalism explain why a majority of chart topping music is written by men and women of color and i don't mean just black people.

It was not that unusual since most of the Africans had not been in country that long, only since 1776. Many of the colonies did not allow slavery before 1776. So we are talking 1776 to 1865 Africans.

lies, he was not part of the movement of people freeing slaves and setting them up elsewhere. a lot of the quotes above are wrong and a lot are right, but he was not a player in the african colonization.

how about this: $500 if you can prove lincoln was active in the colonization of africa by former black slaves

As I remember he wanted the africans to be sent back to africa or to a special island paradise where they can create another society in their own ways .

He was all for the segregation because he just did not see the two cultures being compatiable down the line in American society .

He did not want the two races/species to socialize

segregation doesn't equal shipping them off. it was a very small group of abolitionist that had some wacky idea that they could use freed slaves to colonize coastal africa into friendly african colonies.

the descendants of these abolitionists of course took advantage of it (ie read firestone), but all in all it was a very small group. lincoln wasn't part of it. yes he was pro abolition, yet (as quoted) he realized that the union was more important than freeing the slaves and was 100% ready to reunite instead of emancipation.

a lot of people don't realize that the civil war started when the election results of lincoln winning came in! he wasn't even inaugurated yet, much less emancipated the slaves. freeing slaves came years later after thousands of white people died fighting the rebels

An estimated 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites died at the end of KKK ropes from 1882 to 1964.

The documentation has been assembled by David Barton of Wallbu More..ilders and published in his book "Setting the Record Straight: American History in Black & White," which reveals that not only did the Democrats work hand-in-glove with the Ku Klux Klan for generations, they started the KKK and endorsed its mayhem.

Think about it.... is that what we should be doing.

My ex husband worked in both white and black schools prior to integration.

Believe me... blacks are a totally different mind set...
they are from mars we are from venus....

They are a DIFFERNT RACE.... STOP tyring to CHANGE a RACE of people who are differnt... now that is discrimination...

The view we are never taught today is the fact that everybody in America in the 1860s hated black people, not just the southerners. Only a minority of true abolitionists (roughly 10%) believed that black people were humans who deserved equal rights. These people were seen as religious nutcases by other people.

After the Gettysburg Address, Illinois, Indiana and many other Northern states passed laws that prohibited free black men from entering their states.

Slavery was a very important issue at that time, but the issue of slavery was never about the rights and welfare of black people. It was about the rights and welfare of WHITE people. Lincoln was NOT an abolitionist, but he was Anti-Slavery. The difference being abolitionists cared about the well-being of black people. Anti-slavery was a political movement to create jobs for WHITE people in the South, as well as hurt the economy of the South, which was perceived as a threat.

The first step was to abolish slavery, and the second step was to forcibly deport all black people to either Liberia, Central America or Haiti. Liberia was created by Henry Clay and the American Colonization Society for the purposes of deporting all American black people. (Henry Clay was Lincoln's idol).

You have to realize, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren did this to all Native Americans only a few years earlier. This was not a radical and shocking idea. The "Sail of Tears" would have gone through if Lincoln had not been assassinated.

One deal to establish a colony in Haiti already had fallen through after the US government bought land to establish this colony. However, the person who sold the land, didn't actually own the land and ran off with the money. Thus, the deportation was put on hold until more funds could be raised.

A few weeks before Lincoln was murdered, he met with several people about attempting the deportation process again.

Lincoln frequently flip-flopped on the issue of slavery in debates and only said what would win him the popular support. He is actually very similar to most politicians today (notably Obama) on his rhetoric and lack of decisiveness. On top of that, he had no authority to free the slaves; however, he was actually a dictator during most of his presidency as he usurped congressional power during wartime.

For a true hero of abolitionists and the well-being of black people, look-up Lemuel Haynes. He was a great man who often gets overshadowed by phonies like Lincoln, who hijacked the cause for political purposes. (Although Haynes lived many years before Lincoln, our minds and institutions still overshadow people like him with Lincoln).
