You need to sit on the couch , watch TV, while the meter keeps 'watching' you. Thats the idea. Get used to being watched - in your home!!
Then you go out, get in your car, and you have all the traffic cameras 'watching' you.
You park your car in a mall, and you have messages on your mobile telling you what to buy, where the offers are, and security cameras watching what you do.

They had to bring the watching eye into your home.
Hence the new electric meters.

Now watch as the next 'watcher' is brought into your homes.
