My girls and I are homeless, we live in a room right now and will need to move again in a few weeks. If their deadbeat father would pay his support payments and did not default on the house we would not be in this situation. Oh and he makes well over a grand a week, off the books to evade his child support.:(
Prayers to all in this hidden American world that we can be warm and safe and oneday rebuild a new life for ourselves and our beautiful children.

They do though, since becoming homeless my girls do not get invited to friends houses anymore, like our homeless situation is contagious or something. Even their grandpa who lives in the same town has never offered a bed or a meal to us oh but he volunteers to cook for the homeless once a month at his church. I mentioned we may stop by so he could spend some quality time with his only grankids in his food line. He is an elder at his church, I wonder what his memebers would think knowing he allows his grandkids to be without a proper roof over their heads??????

This is so hard for me to read because when you my brothers and sisters over there have to life in such brutal conditions I feel so sad and want to cry. How can a country leave his people in such a I have no word for it condition?

I mean that is not Africa there were you are its our people over there.

Here such a situation is unimaginable
when I read about those kids affected too, that's too much for me to handle.

I tell you a little bit social care from the government is nothing wrong.
You should not call it communism it is help among each other and the state cares for all and provides minimum standard.

All can life a life-worth life.

This I wanted to tell.

Interesting video.

The video says Florida has more than its share of
homeless people [no doubt because the weather is warm.]

Homeless families living in cars are given money to go
to cheap motels. One family had the motel paid for a month,
then had to paint to continue staying there.

Some families living in cars evade seeking help for fear
the state will take their children away from them.

Probably average...200 a week. But you don't need first, and last months rent. Also you don't need to prove income. So it is possible, where renting an apartment is not.

I tell you what I know a couple of foreign exchange students from Denmark,Germany,France and I'm amazed at the social benefits you guys have Free money to go to school regardless of the grades, health insurance

Unfortunately the United States as it's name implies is not very united when it comes to this subject.

Our poor or almost none existent social services are due to both the lack of desire to pay high taxes like you guys do and the poor management of what is in place.

You may start some slums in the outskirts of the big cities...

First, you choose an abandoned area.

Then, you build a "tent city" there.

If the police don't get you out in 3 days, you may start to buy bricks and cement, and build an small improvised home. Do it with many other people, and you will start a new neighborhood, also know as "slum" or "favela".

Income taxation is theft. If we want to build a better society we should do it of our own accord and not rely on the state and state-coercion to do the job for us. This reflects laziness on our account by relegating helping one another to the public sector.

Re: Hidden America Living in Cars, Tents and Cheap Motels
Last week my husband and I had been working outside. We were dressed like slobs, but had to run into town to go to the hardware store for a part.

Parked the car and a man came up to us and told us, "They have free sandwiches in the park, with cookies. Some woman is passing them out. Really good!"

We didn't want to embarrass him said, "Thanks for the info" and walked away.

We decided to do something like that once a week. Made some sandwiches, and went around to the downtown area's and looked for the "down and out" and handed them a sandwich.

I remember back in the day, people asked for money for food and then would turn around and buy drugs or alcohol with it. These people are different. They are really hungry. It breaks my heart..

You're right.

Tent cities can last only for a few days.

The next step is buying bricks and cement and building a solid house.

Just like we do in Mexico and Brazil.

Learn how to deal with it, people! tounge

Have you talked to him?

Have you offered to stay there in exchange for helping him? Both financially and physically? You two obviously had a falling out. Are drugs or drinking part of the picture, or is something else going on?

The liberals have spent a lot of years breaking up family ties purposely. This is what you get--in times past, if you were down on your luck, you stayed with a relative until you got back on your feet. Not anymore, huh?

You can build a solid house in some abandoned area with just a few thousand dollars.

You just need some bricks, cement and tiles.

Try it!

Until one has actually been homeless due to economic downturn or divorce from an abuser...they really cannot appreciate the difficulties especially with children.

Many environments are totally hostile unless you have an igloo or shelter of some kind

The last 30 yrs shelters have been getting bigger and filling to capacity faster. Food pantries are also being depleted more rapidly as more lose their jobs and homes...not to forget those who have had their pension STOLEN by banksters and the illegal federal reserve

For many the only reality that will shake them off their lofty perch will be the same happening to them. Sadly, that is what many will need to go through as they lacked the compassion for their fellow men/women/and children.

To paint all assistance as unnecessary or welfare is not really fair either-as many have paid thousands or more into the system.

Sadly, many of the resources and abundance has been poorly managed and CONgress shares much of the blame as they did not serve the people but their own ends, their own hidden deals and seeking their own comfort they have sold the country out-Not all but both parties are complicit and acting dangerous for the sovereignty we were closer to 15 yrs ago...

Time for many to step away from their errant judgment-or they surely will be shown their arrogance and pride became an obstacle to reason and compassion for another being.

Ignore at your own peril.

I bet there is so much more of this going on than we know. People living like this are living discreet and in hiding.
The people in cars have to change their locations constantly.
