You're never too old to get your first tat :) Just make sure the design is something you really want and make sure it looks good when it's shown otherwise, why get one? ;) Have fun with it and send pics when you're done.

My 15 year old nephew just got his first tattoo.

I don't really approve of tattoos.

However, if you must get one make sure you're getting something you really want.

A tattoo with some form of meaning is better than one that just looks cool because you're less likely to regret it.

Also, considering your age make sure you're getting it in a place that won't suffer too badly from wrinkles.

Try that...

Tatoos are against g-ds law. Why would you want to permenently mark your body?

Do it... its a nice rush. My first tatt and my only one is a half sleeve. Get some ink!

I personally hate tats, but since you're already in your fifties, it will probably age well. Go for it :)

Oh yeah, if you work in healtcare or ever want to, don't get a real visible one. Some places won't hire anyone with a visible tattoo.

I work at a Hospital and have a half sleeve. I guess it all depends on your appearance and qualifications. People love to ask "What does it mean" lol owell I think you should go for it if your truly want one. Just don't get something you think you might regret.

You should only get them in areas that won't be seen in the workplace.

Tattoo on neck, face or hands is a good way to stay unemployed.
They give a bad impression to the employer you see.

I'm a professional tattoo artist of 13 years. And I have tattooed plenty of our aging citizens. The oldest being 79 ,and he was one of the coolest guys I had ever met.
I have tattooed judges, doctors, police, military, all types of people. So you are never to old or nerdy or cool it's about what you want to achieve in life.

Just make sure wherever you go ,it's a reputable shop, check of cleanliness , sterilaity and check the quality of art with the artist profile.

Also make sure the artist cares about his job and you. Don't be afraid to ask questions, a quality artist won't mind answering them :)

Secondly, as the years go by, more and more places are accepting tattoo's into the workplace. There is one caveat to this though - if you are young, with very little experience yet have tattoo's all over, the hiring manager won't give you the same chance as they would to somebody who looks more professional with no visible tattoo's. However, if you have a stacked resume, have plenty of experience, then tattoo's are of little concern especially in the IT industry.
