BAN HORSE SLAUGHTER <link to petition to White House>
Come on everyone, take 3 minutes and sign this petition if you have a conscience! I cannot for the life of me fathom the cruelty of legalizing slaughter houses for these beautiful, intelligent and emotional animals! On the news last night, Ringling Bros. Circus was fined 270,00.00 for abuse to elephants which is great......then, not an hour later I read this horrendous story and bill that OBAMA signed over Thanksgiving weekend!!!!!

I'm not a vegetatian, though morally I wish I was. I like a juicy grilled cheeseburger and a nice fat rib eye, I'm not going to lie.....but raising horses for slaughter ought to make one sick inside to imagine the process involved.

Please sign this petition, I swear a piece of my soul will wither and die if this bill goes through and is not stopped. Thanks for readinghf

Many consider dog tasty too, does that mean your conscience wouldn't be tweaked to individuals legally raising dogs for meat?? Do we only ban dog fighting because of the generated cash flow or because it's cruel......hmmm, something to think about there. Horses have only served humans (what kind of Wild West would it have looked like??) and been a part of our history and lives, living with us side by side for thousands of years.....god, to have to justify this just makes me sick!!

Wait, so you're all for not eating one type of domestic animal but a-okay with eating poor Betsy? How hypocritical, stay off my dinner plate! You'd at least make sense if you weren't eating those beautiful brown cows with those large, soft eyes. WTF.

I have eaten dog. I travel to Asia several times a year to visit family (and for work).

I believe that there is a difference between an animal raised as a pet and one raised with the intention of one day becoming food on someone's plate.

This doesn't have anything to do with me. Your either a horse lover (not of the on-the-plate-kind) or not. Betsy with her large soft eyes, my heart does tug at the thought. BTW, I only eat meat maybe 2x a month when my body craves it.

Another damn do-gooder who doesn't know squat about the effect in the real world.

Horses cost a minimum of $400. each to euthanize. Corn sold for ethanol meant grain costs soared, the drought meant hay costs went through the roof.

Most horses are owned by a rural segment of the population which is the hardest hit by a poor economy.

Horses are being abandoned and starved in unprecedented numbers - there is no 'pound' for horses, all the rescues are jam packed and unable to take more and have been for years.

The government has over 40,000 horses in pens, wild blm horses that have been rounded up and are now costing the government millions of dollars to feed.

They will soon be slaughtered for food.

I agree this is why the government has again made it legal.

I will not, thank you, but I don't think it's right that you're talking about how juicy and delicious How Now Brown Cow is but then saying how horrific and terrible people are who may want to have the option to eat Mr. Ed. Any argument you make for how majestic and emotional horses are can also be said for cows. At least be consistent, hmmm...with your positions, maybe you should run for Congress?
