This is an issue that I've always struggled with. Sometimes I feel like you might be right, maybe it's an act of courage to explore the other side. I'm not talking about suicide from horrible depression but choosing it with a clear mind.

I agree , it is not an easy thing to do , we are wired for survival so we are in effect resisting our survival instincts . Anyone who says that is just ignorant .

This thread is not going to end well.. People of all religions are going to come out.. plus it is ingrained into people at schools and such its bad.. I personaly have no stand on it..

Well simply put, life is for living. Living is for experience. Death is the end of the experience of life. Suicide only abruptly ends the experience and denys any potential experience that couldve been fulfilled. I'd rather continue the experience until death decides it's time to end, but not of my own doing. I don't see where cowardice fits in to the overall scheme of things.

Maybe suicide is the only way to escape this reality. It's like a spiritual test, are you able to give up this world enough to freely leave it behind without being forced to leave it? It's possible that a long as you cling to this world and your life you keep coming back but when you choose to abandon life you move to the next level.

In 200 or so years, given we dont blow up ourselves or something/someone does, suicide or accidents will pretty much be the only way to decrease human population, perhaps then we will be truly free for we will be able to choose the moment of death, one of the things that we can't do freely for now.

Suicide is for those who have lost all hope in there own ability to overcome.

it's not about life been hard.. it's about life been really fucking boring and pointless these days, I don't see what courage or lack of courage has to with suicide.. Then again I completely understand that some people belive they've gone through a lot in their lives and it can't all be for nothing so they justify that by calling suicide cowardly.

Suicide is a difficult thing to understand: My Father took his own life and for a time I was pissed at him for it.

His financial situation was the cause according to the rest of the family but in my eyes he should have dropped his pride and let his kids help out but he hid it from us because he was too proud.

The old man was no coward (to stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger takes some balls) but I have to say he left his wife and kids to deal with his problems rather than letting us help resolve them and having the family together till the natural course of things took place.

No one wants to die, but I am not afraid of death when it comes but I won't short change my family because I don't want face the hardship.

Long story short is the I loved my father but I have a bit of an issue on how and why he existed this realm of existence while leaving other in a lurch!

Suicide is cowardly, it leaves your loved ones with the burden of the problems you ran from.

Not to mention the sadness and distress it causes loved ones.

I will also say, for someone to commit suicide they must really be feeling pain. Feeling like there is no other choice than suicide must be horrible. But we all have pain and troubles in this life, it is how we deal with it that builds character.

On-topic, committing suicide would be silly in these times imho, looks like we all might get to see a lot of nature violence. Power of nature, worth watching. If we do, there are still tons of ways available to get yourself obliterated within a snap. Like Woody Allen, in 2012, awesome.
