Obama is a nerd. Nerds don't have lots of girlfriends, but maybe one and she winds up being his wife. The other important woman in nerds' lives is their mothers, and that doesn't count. Nerds have relationships with their careers, not women. That is how they wind up being in charge.

I think in other cultures it is called being loyal to one's spouse. Maybe you haven't seen it because of the culture sold to people to have multiple relationships that are guaranteed to fail, and divorces after marriages that are engineered to break. Maybe you have watched one too many music videos where the black man has a harem of loose women, and you just can't wrap your mind around the concept of nerd.
