moving beyond the reptilian brain
"Man is a magical being... But, at some point in his history, he lost his freedom. Now his mind is no longer his own. It is an implant. (a foreign installation)" castaneda

the reptilian brain is characterized by a drive for dominance and control. responsible for our irrational behaviors, this lower brain is the seat of the fight or flight response and our territoriality. out of it's corrupted imaginations spring the cruelties of war, suffering, and all sorts of aggressive behaviors, unnatural to the true essence of humanity.

it is easy to see aggression, territoriality, dominance in others and in the world outside of ourselves. yet it can be much harder to turn the sight onto ourselves and question; when am i trying to control a situation or person instead of being there in loving relationality? when am i operating from a space of fear of survival and closed to the world around me?

in order for the world to change, it is not going to happen in the political nor economic arenas, but in the revolution in people's consciousness, moving from living life from the lower, reptilian brain with it's distortions of reality and living from the higher mind and beyond into spirit. it is in this transcendence that humanity regains our place as magical beings.
