After the Collapse, Gold and Silver will be Worth Zero | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1400257 United States 12/05/2011 05:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Gold may be worth zero dollars at some point, but it'll still be "worth its weight in gold" for anything real, like food, tools, guns and ammo. That's the point of collecting the shiny metal. Anyone who tells you otherwise is speaking against the known history of human civilization. Good luck with that. |

Gold and silver have always been money and always will be. There will always be a wealthy class trading the metals and banks. Only sectors will be wiped out such as you and your mother who own no gold and silver unable to pay the taxes will lose your house to someone with gold or silver. |

You will need to have your "psychical" gold and silver to survive. That is if this really even happens. Hell we could have a revolution. |

Ohwell User ID: 1130828 United Kingdom 12/05/2011 06:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Seems like food and other consumables will be more precious than gold. Gold is only worth something if you can use it effectively in the course of production of goods. Will it still be worth something if production grinds to a halt? 1,2,3 10 years of no production? Will people still accept it as a means of transaction and a store of wealth? I think your belly will be the only place to store something and that is food. |

Good luck with that. gold only had worth during a stable economy, and was hard to find. When everyone is starving and money is worth nothing. Put yourself in my shoes if you and your family only have enough food for 10 days and its the middle of winter. How much gold would you charge me for 2 days worth of your food. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1549805 United States 12/05/2011 09:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you want to consider worst case, you would: plant dwarf fruit trees, plant strawberry plants, raspberry, blueberry bushes, citrus trees (can be grown indoors in winter by window) buy heirloom seeds (to plant veg and fruit plants), buy gardening books Plant peanuts, and potatoes. There are many things you can do for your family. If you have physical silver/gold, you can consider them heirlooms for your children. They maybe of use to them down the road. You can have the food growing in your backyard like in the old days. People used to have victory gardens to help make ends meet. |

Maybe in the past, but the future money will be digital, and anyone trying to use physical gold or silver for buying and selling will be labeled a terrorist. They know because its TPTB, including the likes of Soros collaborator Jimmy Rogers, who are pushing the sheeple to buy it. Quoting: Chip® The rest of your information seemed alright. But the thread title fail will make people laugh at you. There was an infrastructure to accomodate gold and silver as money. The population was smaller, food was available LOCALLY - today everything is JiT. OP is correct, PM's will be worthless as you will have a massive population chasing very few tangibles. People will bleed for said tangibles, money, PM's, etc will mean nothing... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 3558872 United States 02/13/2012 03:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah! Cause that's what happened when the ancient Greece collapsed! Oh...wait a second! Quoting: Chip® Op's a dumbass! Pull your head out of your ass!!! You CANNOT compare ancient civilizations and their subsequent collapse with America, nor can you juxtapose the monetary system then with now. It is like comparing apples and oranges. Everything we have, including FOOD is maintained and exists from OIL. JiT, normally a 3 day window, means that if we experience a global monetary collapse JiT shuts down. You won't be getting anything delivered, NOTHING. No one will care about PM's - it will be survival mode. Nor will things come back. The slippery slope down this road means it gets exponentially worse - its like growing a culture of bacteria that doubles every X minutes until the population collapses. For the idiots that thing PM's will work in a global economic collapse you're wrong. This is nothing but a variable of "game theory" - some of you should study it... |
