Gold may be worth zero dollars at some point, but it'll still be "worth its weight in gold" for anything real, like food, tools, guns and ammo. That's the point of collecting the shiny metal.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is speaking against the known history of human civilization. Good luck with that.
