I have been unemployed/underemployed for the last couple years and the jobs I have had have been shitty low wage jobs. My degree is in biology, but I don't care about what type of job I have as long as I am out of the US. I just can't stand this place anymore. I have about $4,000 saved up, which isn't a lot, but I can live very cheaply and still be happy. I have no kids, no wife/girlfriend, and almost nothing preventing me from leaving. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6353538 I am thinking either Thailand, Argentina, New Zealand or Iceland. Anyone here with some advice for me? Unless you have a job moving to Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia,Northern India Singapore are expensive. But if you can get a job in any of those countries you are set. |

In that time if you find a job, you can apply for a work visa. Ecaudor has cities that are Unesco World heritage sites and one of the lowest costs of living on the planet. What better than to be surrounded by that that you love and live a simple, healthy life in a safe place? If you have any questions, I may be able to send you some links... Just email me.... Best wishes! Last Edited by ladulce on 12/05/2011 07:45 PM |

At 1938, before WWII, a very ritch american was knowing for the coming big war and he was searching for the most remote and quiet place on earth, to live there safe he found his place in the most remote island in the meedle of nowhere at Pacific Ocean, where he buy a huge piece of land, he build a big farm with personel and start to live there hidden from the coming wwii in peace and safety the remote island??? Guadalcanal Whereever you go...there you are Very good story, bro I myself left the country when I thought things were falling apart here, and without going into details or bashing a neighboring country, all I can say is that there is no place like home New Zealand? Check this forum out first: [link to www.expatexposed.com] And the story is similar in many other places Trust me on this...you could go out of the frying pan into the fire In addition, there is plenty of prejudice against male Americans in most other countries where you want to work, so even if you're qualified you may not get the job, be accepted or make friends I would suggest OP go to North Dakota which currently has a labor SHORTAGE, the wages are rising and the economy is booming...but bring an RV to sleep in because there are no more places to rent [link to www.abcseamless.com] |

I've worked in venezeula, chile and ecuador. chile would be my choice..southern. b a u tee ful. good people as well. valdivia is nice. not sure what you could do for a living in s. chile, but you could make good money working for mining companies north of santiago. beautiful women as well. ... i've thought about moving there...but ..i have a large family and i don't think they'd fit in well. I am bilingual..but they are not. ...it is somewhat important in a foreign country if you're going to make money and/or enjoy it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1349914 United States 12/06/2011 01:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's very nice here in Canada. Just make sure to buy a winter jacket and a touque. ;) Quoting: KNOWING I moved to Canada. I became a resident. I bought a house, spent a lot of money... I ended up moving back to the USA The problem is : 1) Canadians usually hate Americans. They won't hire them or use them for most work, even if the American is more highly qualified. Truth 2) Canadians only hire other Canadians who graduated from a CANADIAN university, and has "Canadian" experience. If you weren't there before you were 18 years old, you're pretty much S.O.L. unless you arrive with enough money to buy your own little business and make your own income stream I sure wish someone had straightened me out on these little factoids before I wasted 10 years of my life up there thinking I could join the maple leaf party No issue with Canadians...they just need to have a bit more transparency so Americans don't waste their time moving up there only to find out they're not really welcome Canada is very nice for native born Canadians. Not so nice for most other people, maybe Brits, rich Germans and the occasional Dutch farmer Check out the comments on this job board site: [link to www.canadaimmigrants.com] Just trying to save you from having my experience, bro. |

See what type of jobs are available and if you need a work visa. This might help you to make a determination. Thailand has had problems a few years ago with a military takeover. I don't know there present status. They did have a news blackout for awhile. Iceland is volcanic with an eruption that grounded European flights a few years ago. New Zealand had the earthquake and requires a work visa for stays over a certain length of time. I don't know much about Argentian. Good luck. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6582596 If you can create income online you can live anywhere in the world there is internet access. This is what I have done. Also many countries have much lower costs of living. Rent on my beach front 2 bedroom house is only $180 a month which includes all utilities. My monthly budget is around $500 a month. While the income I make online would not support me in the US, it is more than enough here in the Philippines. |

The Netherlands had it hands down for least corrupt places. Just google it, should come right up. Bon Voyage. Spread the word, change the collective conscious......
