Y'all are gonna love this one. All these problems really come down to money, right? Well, here ya go. The money is getting sorted out. 'bout damn time. And, it looks like our own administration has something to do with it.

Right on time, Barry.

[chattels] A source close to the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussain al-Shahristani to get initial approval of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on oil contracts concluded by international companies in the Kurdistan region and was controversial and disagreement between the governments in Baghdad and the region. The source said that this trend comes to ease the current crisis in order to Hlhaltha one hand, and not to give any justification for the Kurdistan Regional Government of seeking to conclude further contracts without the knowledge of the government or against her, noting that the crisis between Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and President of Kurdistan, centered large part on oil contracts. He explained that the pressure exerted by the U.S. administration on the Baghdad government had a significant impact on access to this formula, saying that Maliki stipulated acceptance of those contracts, that is passed from Baghdad in coordination with the province. 8-20-2012 National Meeting: Political blocs agreed on the date of the National Meeting sponsored by President Talabani, upon his return from a trip therapy. Blocs agree on the conference after the return of President of the Republic immediately, and that the possibility of a node requires a concession blocks for ceilings demands. We hope that the conference and the Reform Commission will resolve differences and get out of the political crisis. Talabani stressed the need to have the Constitution and the Convention Erbil, and the eight points that came out of the meeting of Erbil - Najaf and a paper reform proposed by the Alliance for national and other securities must rely on National Meeting and be based in solving problems. BlueyesinLevis:
If one follows the events of the last few months we see progress. Around a month ago,Talibani submitted a letter to Team Erbil, telling them "give the National Meeting a chance, if it doesn't work this time, I will call for a vote of no confidence"
-
Talibani has given Maliki all of Ramadan to get things finalized.. or enough rope to hang himself if he doesn't.The new Kurd spokesman, Salih, seems to be getting things done, and he is holding things together better than if Allawi and Barzani were front and center. They seem to have moved past the personality conflicts.
-
Talibani is talking tough words here.. demanding the 8 points of Erbil...and once Eid al Fitr is over we shall see. Meanwhile.. back at the ranch.. Shabibi seems to have finaly got the finanace committe on board.. and if we can just get any semblance of a GOI in place.. he may be satisfied that Maliki can't take the money and turn into another Sadaam.
-
Yes.. it would be mighty dissapointing if Talibani backs down to Maliki at this point...but things are lining up nicely in advance of Shabibi's International financial conference in London on September 18.
-
I guess I am a glass half full kinda guy...
but the truth is.. I really do see the glass half full..
with the spigot turned on full blast and the hand moving the glass towords the faucet.
- Let's all say a prayer for the Iraqi's.. and in so doing...
a prayer for the best of ALL (US) involved.

Carrello:
BlueyesinLevis, I am in your court. My glass isn't just half full, it is ready to spill over. I see nothing but good things happening. Now Iran and Israel need to behave for the next few months.

The politics seem close to getting sorted out, and Talibani is supposed to be back any time after Eid al-Fitr, which ends on the 23rd, to conduct the National Meeting, although I've heard the 26th specifically mentioned as the tentative date of his return. So, any time between Thursday and the September banking meeting in London, which ends, I believe, on the 19th, looks good.

What are your thoughts?

Maybe this is just me being overly optimistic again, but I think that may have been the best thing that ever happened to us. Now that we've busted him, we've got his balls in a vice grip with a potential renewal of sanctions. Have you noticed how everybody has started getting a lot more friendly over the past two weeks in Iraq, especially from the SLC/National Alliance side, and then, all of a sudden, after almost no Iraq news for months in our MSM, we get this piece about Iraq helping Iran? I don't think that's any accident, and I think we're going to see Maliki doing whatever he can, now, to avoid resumption of sanctions.

Here's a piece from yesterday where our Chairman of the Joint Chiefs says Iraq's leaders have signified a renewed willingness to cooperate with the US.

[SWFloridaGuy] 8-21-2012 Ministers: The Security Ministries will be resolved after the feast. After the launch of the National Alliance for the reform project and the formation of negotiating committees things started moving toward a truce and have completed the draft and sent to the Council of Ministers for the purpose of the amendment and then the vote. The negotiating committee to resolve the candidates ministries away began holding meetings strenuous to find candidates admitted to the political blocs, indicating that this issue will be resolved after the feast. This was stressed by President Talabani on the need to have the Constitution and the Convention of Erbil, and the eight points that came out of the meeting of Erbil – Najaf. [SWFloridaGuy] 8-21-2012 Talabani: President Talabani first meets with Barzani after returning home. Talabani will return home soon and first meet with Barzani and Kurdistan political leaders. Talabani is waiting for the reply of his physicians in Germany but as he has reached the final stages of recovering he will return home in a near future. After meeting with Barzani and Kurdistan politicians, Talabani will confer with the Iraqi leaders for settling the political crisis in the country. The official added all the parties on their own are preparing for a National Conference which Talabani called for before he traveled to Germany. The conference also aims at sorting out the current tensions among the major political parties. 8-21-2012 Newshound Guru Doc We are rapidly ending the Ramadan/fest time and the news on the surface appears favorable. The political factions appear once again to be playing nice and have reported several agreements in place or in works including the currency reform and Ebril issues. We still see Maliki as the wild card and the fact he apparently was cutting illegal side deals with Iran further cements our opinion. Our best guess here is the UN will come down hard on him and basically tell him get on board or get out. If this is true we will get extremely excited. We tell tell sign it is true would be these issues being ratified in Parliament very quickly. When we see this we contend the party is quickly approaching. Until then we'll watch Maliki very closely to see how hard he pushes back. We report, you decide.

Not been around much but must share a bit of news I had today

Quick info first to get up to speed.

"When I invested in to this my contact told me to not expect any return for 10 years…naturally I have been praying. willing this to happen before but as you know its not.

I will start my tenth year on September 4th 2012

Any way today my contact that I have not seen nor spoke to from the time I meet him until this day rang me today & asked if I still have my IQD.

I nearly fainted on the phone when he said who it was.

I asked for more details but being who he is he told me he did not know the date nor a rate…he also added only a few people in the world would know this so its pointless trying to second guess or build my hopes up.

He just told me to hold out….dont sale….this will be at an end sooner than you will believe.

I posted in rumours as their isn’t really any informative information to give.

Dare I say it for the first time?

Weak Good Twilight News / confirmed by President Jalal Talabani, on the possibilities to reach a breakthrough in the political crisis gripping the country, announcing his return to the homeland soon.

Talabani said in a statement received "Twilight News" during a meeting at his residence in Germany, the Secretary-General of the Iraqi Islamic Party and the head of the center-parliamentary Ayad al-Samarrai and the delegation accompanying him that "meetings and consultations from Germany bode prospects to reach a breakthrough in the crisis in order to reach solutions consensual. "

The President of the Republic that he "will continue its efforts to bring the views if he returned to his homeland soon."

For his part-Samarrai expressed confidence that Talabani to return home will have a significant impact on the intensification of the ongoing contacts between the parties to the political process to find solutions to urgent and effective to the dilemmas faced by the country.

Iraq faces a political crisis since for quite some time but it worsened recently and went to the extent of demanding the withdrawal of confidence in Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki or questioned as demanding the Iraqi List and the Liberal bloc and the Kurdistan Alliance to withdraw confidence from Maliki and has collected signatures for deputies and delivered those signatures to President Jalal Talabani to convince him submit a request to withdraw confidence from Maliki to the House of Representatives, but he did not submit that request to parliament for lack of a quorum full confidence.

Liberal bloc decided that represent the Sadrist movement after the withdrawal of the interrogation process, too, after he presented the National Alliance and the paper comprehensive reform he says Kvelah resolve all disputes and outstanding issues.

The head of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and leader of the Iraqi List, Osama Nujaifi announced, on the seventh of this August, a freeze on the subject of interrogation as a prelude to withdraw confidence from the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, demanding to provide candidates for the post and the defense and interior ministries in the near time.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Another feel-good rumor to start your day. Looks like they're getting some confirmation from some larger private investor groups, too.

Loco01:
This is totally 100% rumor
I got a call last night from a person who is heavily invested in IQD comparing my IQD to theirs is like comparing
Romney's pay check to mine.

This person runs and deals with very wealthy and powerful people. And right now this circle are very excited
to the extent that some wanted to rent the hotel suites where we will meet to make arrangements for group cash in and investments.
I am still not to sure how a person like me got hooked up with these people but I did.
I am telling you this because I want you to know this is not coming from just any Joe Blow dinar holder
but from people who have money and know how to make money.

This person for the last two years has been trying to get a couple they know out west to invest in IQD
But to no avail the husband of this couple is an DA and involved in politics up until now he always claimed
IQD RV was BS
Now all of a sudden he comes home with a file packs up his wife and heads here to Florida
He is here to buy Dinar because Tampa has a lot of dealers and he is investing heavily
Now according to the person I know and trust this DA,Lawyer, politician does not play.
Only acts on true verifiable information and he is excited enough to pack up his family and come to FL
To buy and presumably sit here to cash in.

Now you guys really want to know what is in that file he brought home don't you huh,
All you have to do is send 25,000 IQD and e-mail address to Loco01 @ JUST KIDDING

Supposedly the file this man has is a copy of the original agreement signed by Bush
About the IQD in it it states that it was from the beginning it was to be a ten year monetary plan that ends
with IQD reinstatement not an RV
I can't tell you if it is to be what Saddam valued or the international banks value
I have not seen the document not sure I ever will like I said these people run in circles way above my pay grade
The person that told me this I trust a lot and I don't trust 99.9% of people
I know people with money get fooled just like the rest of us and I was hesitant to pass on a rumor
Rumors and gossip tend to die with me because I don't pass them on
But this feels different these people are all excited I'm not but they sure are.
And in a time of little hope for our future maybe a little hope will get us through another day
Or maybe I just need the hope and I am grasping at straws who knows.

Followup posts to the rumor above...

Quadkid1:
We too have a large group invested here where I live and they meet once a month to discuss all things dinar. They too have been preaching much of the same sentiment. They claim ( not me ) that they have knowledge of high level individuals that are invested. I am not going to name names but these are some that people would recognize. I have felt at times that their "Intel " was a little over zealous but they do have the ability to get you a little excited......... Some of the persons in the group I do know are folks that do have a few bucks and have jumped on this ride. Anyway just thought I would share this in light of the OP here.

I know a group as well & heard the same intel you're (Quadkid) referring; they are heavily invested in iqd. There group is by invitation only and they are extremely excited.. Which makes me feel we might be on to something here. Just sharing.. Hope it happens; waiting patiently..

That'd be wild, huh? RV and then, total collapse? Add a world war and maybe an alien invasion, and you've got GLP's wet dream. If it happens, I'm gonna be chillin' on the beach in Uruguay watching the world burn. Y'all should come. We'll start a GLP compound.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
There has been a lot of talk in the mainstream about our investment lately. Just this last week, we've seen it covered by the NY Post, DMCC, the largest commodities house in Dubai, and it's featured three times in Hit & Run, a new movie in theaters now.

Below is another piece, from Wealth Daily, that just came out today. One interesting thing from the NY Post article I noticed was that it finally acknowledged the dramatic increase in value of the Kuwaiti dinar and the West German mark revaluation, where most previous articles said those two had nothing to do with Iraq's situation. Today's article goes even a step further, acknowledging that if Iraq can ever get its act together politically, our dinar is set to "soar," which is exactly what so many have been saying in this community for years.

Iraqi Dinar Investments
Why the Hype?

Would you consider yourself a gambling person? Would you consider investing in something completely unrelated to U.S. stocks and bonds? How about the Iraqi dinar?
Iraq’s a country rife with warfare and conflict. And the Iraqi dinar, presently pegged at 1,165 dinars to a U.S. dollar, could eventually soar when the Iraqi government stabilizes. And considering the enormous reserves of oil Iraq contains, some daring investors are playing a very long game by betting on the dinar.

History is on their side. West Germany saw dramatic improvements in its currency value after World War II. Kuwait had the same thing happen after the invasion in 1990. Even Hollywood’s getting into the game; the new movie Hit and Run portrays a get-rich-quick scheme that bases itself precisely upon the Iraqi dinar premise.
But it’s a very high risk/high rewards situation. The Iraqi government could keel over at any time and the dinar is not held by U.S. banks or otherwise traded by any major currency exchanges, all of which makes investing in the dinar rather complicated. Interested investors would need to source out dealers willing to deliver the investment in hard paper, and that opens the doors to easy fraud.

And that’s not all. Those difficulties mean the markup for purchasing the dinar is high, not accounting for storage fees. Finally, selling the dinar will also be complicated given the lack of prominent institutional purchasers. At DinarTrade, it costs $1,020 to purchase 1 million dinars. However, selling them earns a return of just $810.
Interestingly, given the spectacular failures of long-established financial institutions and frameworks worldwide, it appears some investors are willing to take long odds. What say you?

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Just in case anyone missed it yesterday, here's the NY Post article.

8-28-2012 New York Post: Dinar Is Served. Thousands of Main Street investors, fed up with a stock market that has barely moved in more than a decade, are seeking out heftier returns in more exotic investments. Iraqi dinar investing figures in the plot of “Hit and Run,” starring Kristen Bell, giving Hollywood heft to a potentially explosive bet. There is a growing number of dinar devotees betting that the currency — currently pegged at 1,165 dinars per US dollar — could one day spike in value if Iraq’s new government gets on its feet, begins profiting from its massive oil supplies and revalues its currency. The potential for riches has opportunity-hungry investors so eager for information that Paul Christopher of Wells Fargo said he gets more questions about the controversial paper than any other currency except, more recently, the euro. The Iraqi dinar isn’t held by US banks or traded by major currency exchanges, so interested investors must locate dealers who will deliver the investment in paper form. That means higher risk for fraud, which has been increasing around this trade in recent years, according to warnings from the Better Business Bureau. But it also means higher markups to buy the currency, plus storage fees. Selling the dinar could also be pricey, given the lack of big, institutional buyers. At dealer DinarTrade, for example, buying 1 million dinars will cost $1,020, according to the website. But selling them back will earn you just $810, said DinarTrade founder Ali Agha, citing the unfavorable exchange rate by the Central Bank of Iraq. Still, Agha, one of the few dealers rated favorably by the Better Business Bureau, doesn’t see interest in the trade fading anytime soon, given the degree to which mom-and-pop investors — who make up the bulk of his clientele — have been burned by stocks and real estate.
