I doubt that really has anything to do with the dinar. It's not going to affect any of the other countries' currencies, so I don't see why it would affect Iraq's.

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed the dinar has improved 24 dinars to the dollar, or about 2%, since Trump was inaugurated? That's the best street rate since last July, and it has improved every day since Friday. I think Iraqis know ISIS is very soon to be a thing of the past, and their currency will reflect that. CBI has always said no change in the dinar until security is achieved.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Take a look at this, y'all. I understand where Trump was coming from when he said we should have just taken the oil to compensate ourselves for Iraq's liberation, but now he's saying maybe we'll get another chance. There's no chance Trump is sending the Army back into Iraq, at least not in numbers significant enough to secure the country's entire oil reserves. We would need a million troops there, forever, to do that, and the costs would far outweigh the benefits. That would be the only thing that could possibly unite the average Iraqi with ISIS, and Trump wants to utterly destroy ISIS. My working theory, and what originally got me into the dinar, has always been that, because we couldn't take the oil, we took the currency in exchange for our services. Maybe it's just the conspiracy theorist in me, but Trump's statement sounds too tongue-in-cheek.

This is the statement that really pricked up my ears, but read the whole article. I'll post some of the more interesting parts below the link.

“We want to be sure our interests are protected,” he told reporters. “We’re going into a country for a cause. He wants to be sure America is getting something out of it for the commitment and sacrifice it is making.” -Sean Spicer

Well, America ain't got squat out of it yet, so what exactly is Trump hoping we get after all these years?

Also, when asked about Trump's statement, Abadi claims to not know what he meant. If Trump is speaking plainly, and not symbolically, I don't know how Abadi misses the meaning. The plain meaning of Trump's statement is, "We deposed their dictator, and spent trillions of dollars, and the blood of thousands of American troops, and got nothing in return. Perhaps, we should re-invade and take the oil for our trouble."

And check out the last quote. There's that old statement that the war would pay for itself. Well, it still has yet to pay a dime for itself, much less the whole thing. If we were never going to take the oil, what else could possibly pay us back if not all those brand spanking new dinars under our mattresses and of which Trump has long been rumored to hold about 20 billion?

No one knows how seriously to take President Donald Trump’s threat to seize Iraq’s oil.

Doing so would involve extraordinary costs and risk confrontation with America’s best ground partner against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), but the president told the CIA this weekend, “Maybe you’ll have another chance.”

“So we should have kept the oil,” he said. “But, OK, maybe you’ll have another chance.”

Asked about Mr. Trump’s comments, al-Abadi told an Iraqi television channel on Tuesday, “It wasn’t clear what he meant.”

There is uncertainty as to where Mr. Trump’s idea derives from, though the president has noted that taking the oil is something “I have long said.” Hints of this notion existed in some of the pre-2003 rhetoric from the Bush administration about the Iraq war “paying for itself.” But top advisers to President George W. Bush have stressed how the future of Iraq’s resources were pointedly left out of decision-making related to the invasion so as not to fuel a perception that the war was driven by oil concerns.

Good to hear. Air Force, genius, married rich sounds about as close a contact as I've ever come across other than that guy who gave Paul Bremer a ride during the war. Been wondering if there was something to the Trump-bought-20-billion-dinars story. If it goes in his first month, I'd say there is. Has she ever said anything unusual about it before in 7-8 years?

It would've been a little worse than 1000:1. I like that you don't remember that, though. Sounds like this is the first time you've thought about it in many years.

Iraq: Calls to raise the value of the dinar
February 3, 2017 in the media center , reports the comments on Iraq: Calls to raise the value of the dinar closed
Registration of the Iraqi economy, experts do not rule out a relatively rebound this year compared to 2016, «in the event of rising crude oil prices continued worldwide». They expected the government to take the initiative on economic reform «a broader dimension to the level of activation of the special efforts supported any productive sectors of industry, agriculture and services.» And approaching experts forecast a lot of calls to correct the value of the Iraqi dinar and the path, consistent with the exceptional economic situation in which the country is going through, with many believing that the official pricing of the dinar against the dollar is unrealistic in the current circumstances.
Economic academic Essam Mahouelle called in an interview to «life», noted that this year be the year to enhance the purchasing power of the dinar and the ability of «strengthens the confidence in the national currency, which represents the sovereignty of Iraq». He stressed the need to «restrict foreign business dealings only in dollars.»
And ways to raise the price of the dinar, Mahouelle saw the need to «manage the country's affairs, economic mentality and look long-term, along with a quote economic experiences of states passed in conditions similar to those in which the passing of Iraq, as well as the reduction of trading the dollar in the domestic business transactions to support the national currency.» He stressed that the supervision of the Central Bank and coordination with economic authorities and relevant ministries «role in enhancing the value of the dinar by preventing the circulation of foreign currency in the local trade for whatever reason, and counted only foreign transactions». He stressed the importance that the «private and government banks take action to deal strengthens Iraqi dinars».
The dollar exchange rate against the dinar will fluctuate up and down, as he was about 4 thousand dinars in the nineties in the dollar, and scored a gradual decline after 2003 to continue to fall to 1200 dinars to the dollar in the last ten years. And it rose again after the adoption of the budget in 2015, and to require the central bank to determine its sales of foreign currency in accordance with Article 50 of that year's budget law.
Mahouelle He pointed out that «importers of goods were turning the dinar to the dollar when paying their price by banks, as the audience did not feel the importance of the US currency only when traveling abroad and are turning to banks, turned them dinar to the dollar in foreign currency and give them cash or instruments travelers after bank approval Central and under the foreign exchange law. »
He was an expert in the industrial sector Aqeel al-Saadi, said that the government's initiative to reform the economy «will take a wider range with the central bank's quest to launch industrial and agricultural loans, as well as legislation supporting the private sector laws and the transition to a market economy».
He said the financial expert Thamer al-Azzawi, «the new year will see a recovery in the capital market, with the trend to increase the foreign currency sale and provided outlets for citizens, as well as the central bank is keen to maintain the value of the Iraqi dinar and the dollar exchange rate». He explained that the new year «will see a greater reliance on technology in financial transactions, as well as to facilitate the transactions of the citizens in the banks.» He predicted that «Iraq Stock Exchange achieved a wider traded compared to last year, during which the record trillion traded shares of companies contributing to Iraq, because of the direction the state to move to a market economy».
He guessed expert Rahim al-Shammari, that «the sale of crude oil price increases in the world markets, because of« OPEC »and nations outside the Organization agreement means that the coming months will see a rise in prices». Did not rule out that the «estimated price of a barrel of crude oil between $ 55 to $ 65.»

A billion is not an exaggeration either.

She married a rich guy and started buying currency years ago....she got me into it about 7-8 years ago....Like I said, she is smart so...I listened. I have a couple million in dinars now....not that it will ever be what we want it to be...it was a long shot....I bought it like 100 to 1....nah...better than that....it was so easy.

But big sis is a fucking einstein so....she thinks it is going to pay off...and damn...she might be right
