You do realize that most of them are not in jail do to selling Iraqi dinar, but for selling securities that may be bogus or with out a license to do so. Still up in the air. But the dinar would not seem to be the issue. sk

9-30-2012 Freebird: If what the CBI is saying is true my prediction of September may only have been a few days off. After seeing oil payments finally being made from Baghdad to Kurdistan, Ban Ki Moon give his approval for Chapter VII release, MPs saying a National Meeting is coming and the CBI making the very bold statement "The dinar will be equal to the dollar in the next few days," I am the more optimistic now than ever concerning this investment.

Hate to say this but I think the 1 dinar to 1 dollar quote is being misunderstood do to translation problems.. I think we will see some movement but I would suspect that it will not be the huge Rv that is expected. That is not to say that a huge swing is not in the works, but just not based on this article. sk

I think he's just saying Ban has said he supports it. It definitely hasn't been released yet, but the Sec General being in favor is a good step. Here's another good summary of the latest developments.

Now whether or not this claim is factually based and will actually transpire remains to be seen, but coming from Chief Economist Majid does give it a bit more tenability then just some anonymous random economist. Couple this press release with the temporary oil and gas agreement (payments initiated today), Ban Ki Moon at least giving the appearance of being in Iraq's corner regarding sanctions, Parliament voting on the Infrastructure law tomorrow and a possible National Meeting in the works and I'd say things are looking very promising. All we can do is let this play out and hope for the best.

A currency can't "free float" 100,000% in a few days, that would create outright pandamonium.
