Supposedly, they're going to offer Kuwait investment opportunities in lieu of the $4.6 billion they still owe. Kuwait would be foolish to not accept that, at this point. Iraq has already paid them upwards of $50 billion.

Closing that file would also end Chapter 7 sanctions.

Unconfirmed, but Iraqi Day is very reliable. If this is, indeed, true, this is the symbolic, and the physical, end of ISIS in Iraq. The Nuri Mosque was the beginning of their caliphate, and whatever local support they may have had left will end, and the locals will execute any of them left for this destruction of their history.

Way less than 50%. Read the whole thing.

Iraq Rises

First you should know that countries coming off of civil wars are very lucrative to early investors. After the brutal civil war in Sri Lanka ended in 2008, the benchmark Colombo All Share index went from a 2008 low of about 1,500 to a 2011 high of nearly 7,800.

This type of move happens with the advent of peace and prosperity. Colombia’s stock market gained about 5,000% after the narco traffickers were soundly defeated. The end of apartheid in South Africa and the fall of the USSR brought similar gains to those countries' stock markets.

They both devalued to encourage exports. Sorry, I don't have time to dig in to this too much because of the developments in Mosul, but what I saw of Colombia, they sell $18 million worth of pesos a day into their economy to keep the peso low. I don't believe Iraq is going to be selling piles of dinars into the market, and from what I've seen of Iraqi economists touting the Balassa-Samuelson Effect, I think they want to avail themselves and have the dinar appreciate as the economy grows.

New policy regains Iraq's international, regional position

[link to www.thebaghdadpost.com]

Iraq's new policy has regained country's international and regional position, spokesman of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's media office Saad al-Hadithi revealed on Thursday.

Al-Hadithi stated that Abadi's recent regional tour, including visits to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, helped Iraq regain its effective and influential role among countries of the region.

According to al-Hadithi, Abadi's recent tour proves the Iraqi vision's success, aiming at openness with all countries of the world.

Moreover, he stated that the meetings the Iraqi delegation held during the tour were constructive as they bolstered political, economic and security relations between Baghdad and the region's countries.
