Re: Iraq an economic Study
Kaperoni update:
The CBI (Turki and others) is in Washington and New York in annual meetings all week. Nothing will happen during these meetings.

More announcements or articles should come out to create “awareness” for the Iraq’s.

Today’s opening of the optical cable connecting Iraq to the world is a huge step. IMO, the CBI will benefit first with this real time connectivity. Check that off the list.

Laws are still on the table because Parliament is on break till after the elections. I think they come back on the 23rd of April and will work until May 15th. That period of time will be interesting to see if they can get all the laws passed.

First part of May an economic conference is scheduled in London. This is IMO a final tune up to tweak laws or get a consensus on what needs to be done to open up the free market economy.

May 23rd, DFI funds are fair game. Look for the CBI to act before then hopefully raising or beginning to raise the value of the dinar. If all goes well, we should be very close come May 15th.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Article is from last year, but still, very interesting. Wonder why there hasn't been more talk of this.

According to Iraq's mineral ministry, country's western desert contains huge reserves of gold and likely platinum and diamond resereves.

LONDON(BullionStreet): After decades of sanctions, war and sectarian violence, Iraq is struggling to maintain it's economy and looking forward to increase gold production along with oil and natural gas.

According to Iraq's mineral ministry, country's western desert contains huge reserves of gold and likely platinum and diamond resereves.

The Iraqi government recently announced a 30 year economic plan for mines and minerals by granting production licenses to foreign mining companies.

The Iraqi government is thus hopeful that gold mining can be an increasingly profitable venture for the country.

However, official gold trade in the country remained in doldrums as Iraq's banking sector required proper training and guidance from foreign banks, analysts said.

Iraq's northern neighbor Turkey offered to support country's banking sector in gold trade.

Turkish Banks Association (TBB) said the Turkish banking industry, which developed new ways of bringing in individual gold savings to the economy, will train Iraqi bankers on how to trade with gold.

The scope of the training will be determined depending on the demand stated by the Iraqi government. The TBB has started a study in regards to the training, which will take place in Baghdad and Erbil following a recent visit by an Iraqi delegation of the Federation of Private Banks to Turkey.

Analysts said Turkey has carried out important studies in trading gold, which is a significant saving tool in Iraq, and we want to benefit from Turkey's experience.

TBB has provided training to countries such as Albania, Azerbaijan as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina and has also been working on training programs for Syria and Lebanon.

Three zeros to be cancelled from Iraqi currency, says MP

16 Apr 2013

Parliamentary Finance Commission MP stated that the Central Bank of Iraq will soon cancel the zeros from the Iraqi currency. MP Abdul Hussein al-Yassiri revealed that it will happen by this as the Central Bank of Iraq is taking all necessary steps to convert this plan into reality.

He adds that the commission is in favor of Central Bank of Iraq with this decision as this will bring significant changes in the Iraqi economy. It is to be noted that earlier Central Bank reported that cancelling out zeros from Iraqi currency is under planning of the Bank.

The prime difficulty will be - is withdrawing 30 trillion dinars from the Iraqi market at the present time which will be replaced by new currency.

Previously the decision of eliminating zeros from Iraqi currency was not ratified by ministry of finance as the budget was done with the present currency.

Note: In the five minutes since I posted this, denials are coming out, so probably BS.

I've been on this site over 5 years now. I've seen hundreds of earthquake predictions come and go (Thanks, EAT) and never seen one from any official source, much less a predicted earthquake actually happen, and now, AllIraqNews is saying the USGS is predicting a 10+ earthquake in the next week in the Gulf Region. What the hell is going on?

US Geology Agency warns of “Very large earthquake” to hit Iraq, Gulf Region
Friday, 19 April 2013 08:33 | | |

Baghdad (AIN) –The US Geology Agency warned, on Thursday, the Gulf States, including Iraq and some countries in East Asia from a “very large” earthquake in the period between 25 to 30 of this April, and hinted that the earthquake will exceed the Richter scale, which is up to 9 degrees or 10 degrees.

The agency said in a report that “A huge plate in the bottom of the ground in a depth of 20 km will move southeast Iran to the Gulf States on the one hand southern Iran, as well as move a plate from the east to the countries of Pakistan, India and East Asia may cause earthquake very large.”

The Agency assured “The preliminary magnitude of the quake is estimated at 10 degrees on the Richter scale, and can destroy an entire region and bury it under the bottom of the earth.”

The agency warned “The southern Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and the central and eastern Saudi Arabia, and the north-east of Amman from possible strong aftershocks of 5 degrees which is capable of destroying the infrastructure, including roads, streets, bridges, stations and towers, electricity, telecommunications, media, Internet and very high towers and all public facilities.”

The Agency added that Japan is exposed to serious tsunami.

An earthquake and 80 aftershocks had hit the area south-west of Iran recently reached about 8 degrees on the Richter scale that killed and injured hundreds according to official Iranian sources. /End/

I think it was just a rumor. I've watched earthquakes around here for a long time, and I've never seen USGS make any specific predictions. They always talk in terms of decades, not days, in their predictions. I think this is just a case of Iraqis getting nervous because Iran had a big one a few days ago, and a rumor becoming truth. If it's real, and I highly doubt it is, it would be a first for USGS.

How much longer are these NWO bastards gonna play with us before they finally let this pop?

I am gonna be so pissed if they wait to significantly raise the value of the dinar until after the global reset when all currency will go digital.Sounds like one might have the accept the mark of the beast and enter the NWO utopia before they could do any kind of trading/buying/selling at all with the new world currency. That would include trading in all the old curencys for the new.

That would be a great way for the elites to screw us over one last time, seeing as they have no qualms about selling their souls for wealth and power.

These are local elections, but will be a good barometer for the parliamentary elections later this year. If SLC's candidates get roundly beaten, and right now, they're in third place out of three in most of their strongholds, things are going to have to change, or they'll be out of power come next year.

Elections looking really good so far! Hakim's Citizens' Coalition is kicking SLC's ass. Here's Blue's take on it and some articles.

OMG. This is looking awesome.

Yes.. Hakims group is sweeping it..

Hakim was the number one choice in the opinion Poll the day before the election.
and his Citizens Coalition is reaping and sweeping.

The people obviously listened to Sistani and the clerics..
they have had enough..

When the results are final... hopeful by monday..
and parliment returns tuesday..
we just may have the whole new ball game we need.

The main thing we are waiting for is a true formed GOI..
Stability,, a fair and Constitutional government.
This election.. if it holds like this...
will sweep Maliki from power...
and we should see the Federal Council established.

Everything else.. the basket of laws,, specificly the Law of Indebtedness,
HCL, agreement on a direction for article 140, independent seated ministers...
all that stuff will fall into place.

I am very encouraged.

Can you HEAR ME SMILING? ~ Blue

Here's our guy, Hakim. If these results hold, this will be the most powerful man in Iraq on Monday.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Ammar al-Hakim (Arabic: سید عمار الحكيم‎) is an Iraqi politician who leads the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, which was the largest party in Iraq's Council of Representatives from the 2003 Invasion of Iraq until the 2010 Iraqi elections.
Al-Hakim was born in 1971 in Al-Najaf, the son of Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim, who preceded him as leader of ISCI, and the grandson of Muhsin al-Hakim, who led the Iraqi Marja' from 1961.
He went into exile in Iran in 1979 with his father after the government of Saddam Hussein had executed seven of his uncles and sixty two of his relatives. He attended private schools in Tehran and graduated from the Islamic Arabic University in Qom. He taught Arabic language, Islamic jurisprudence, logic, philosophy and the science of the Qur'an at the same university for several years.
He supervises the establishment and management of many organizations, Scientific and Cultural Institution in the exile. The most important one was “House of Wisdom for Islamic Science” from which a large number of students graduate in the field of Islamic knowledge.
In 2003 he established “Al-Hakim Foundation”, under the supervision of his uncle Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir Al-Hakim. The Al-Hakim Foundation later received consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Headquartered in Najaf, it is now the largest institution of civil society in Iraq, with over 80 offices in all Governorates of Iraq, and working in the field of humanitarian assistance, development, human rights, and dialogue between religions. The Foundation also oversees several schools, colleges and cultural and scientific centers. The foundation holds numerous symposiums, conferences and social and cultural events, in addition to publishing a number of magazines and specialized publications.
Ammar Al-Hakim has had a significant impact on cultural, social and political fields on local, Arabic, Islamic and international levels, where he was the special representative of his uncle Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammed Baqir Al-Hakim who was represented in many political and religious gatherings locally and globally. He's characterized by admissibility and wide popularity due to his faith in dialogue and acceptance of others, and steadfast opposition to violence and injustice.[citation needed]
He has participated in many international conferences and he is an active member of many cultural organizations. These include the global pool of dialogue between Islamic sects, and global pool of Ahlu Al-bait (descendants of the Prophet Mohammad)
Ammar Al-Hakim has had a very interesting presence in the Iraqi, Arabic and international media; there were a lot of media interviews with him on issues of political, social and cultural rights, and the media cover most of his meetings with ambassadors and Iraqi and foreign officials.
He was the Vice President and a member of the central shura of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council.
On February 23, 2007, he was detained by U.S. forces at a border when he was returning from Iran for 12 hours and he was released. The U.S. ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad apologized for the arrest and stressed that Washington did not mean any disrespect to al-Hakim or his family.[1]
He is married and is the father of four children.

Well, he doesn't really take office as a result of these elections (He's a sitting member of Parliament and leader of his coalition, Islamic Supreme Council), but he becomes powerful by virtue of his party becoming the most powerful bloc in Iraq. Elections for Prime Minister are later this year, but this election is a referendum on where the country is, and it ain't with Maliki, apparently. I guess he could just ignore the results, but it's gonna be really hard after getting trounced.

Nice 420 holiday, eh? rastabanan

They have parliamentary elections, and the winning blocs get together after with their coalitions and pick the new PM. Those elections are in the fall, but that doesn't mean we're waiting until the fall. Yesterday was an earthquake against Maliki, and he's got to be getting more nervous than ever now. There's an article on DV already where Allawi is now demanding the creation of a new government within 45 days. Here's some thoughts from Countrygal about yesterday's elections that may put it a little clearer than I did about how things should shake out now. I don't know her very well, but I think she makes some good points here.

Still looking good for Hakim! He seems to have doubled his representation in the provinces. There was some indication, this morning, that things went better than expected for Maliki, but it's looking more and more like that was Maliki-generated propaganda.

This is from my new buddy, BlueEyesInLevis re: the election.

Deal is.. in a parlimentary system.. a government is formed by coalition.... and with Hakim, Sadr, Nujafi, Barzani's Kurds and the Iraqyia List.. ( Axis of Erbil) they will supplant the National Alliance easily.
-
Maliki has NO WAY to form a coalition that will be a majority... in the governement that Allawi is calling to be formed within 45 days. Maliki's days truly are numbered... I seriously doubt he is able to finish his term as PM. He had better start making deals.. or line up a fast Hummvee to take him across the Iranian border....
-
Maliki is already outnumbered NOW... even if State Law and Dawa won only as many seats as they now have.. they are on the losing end. If Hakim wins 40 more seats than before.. that is huge... remember all the talk of a quorum is about 160 seats?
-

If hakim has 80... and Sadr keeps the 40 he had.. right there is 120... add in the Iraqyia List and the Kurds.. BINGO... the Erbil Axis IS the majority with a quorum every time they meet.
_
And... all the Axis has to do is hang together long enough to force the power sharing and a new government. Down the road.. after they have a true GOI.. taxes, tarriffs, WTO membership, currency of value, out of chapter 7, pumping a ton of oil, building infrastructure, taking care of citizens, creating jobs, and havea thriving banking sector... after all that.. they can all argue to their hearts content. It wont matter to me any longer.
-
I will wish them the best on their journey... and it will be time for MY JOURNEY to begin

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Looks like a resounding defeat for the Maliki, y'all. I'd say, with wins everywhere except Baghdad and Maliki's hometown of Karbala, Hakim has a mandate. Now, we wait to see how Maliki deals with it. If he goes the hardline route, his days might be even more numbered, and he very well might end up dead. Iraqis do not want his kind of government any more and they made that very clear yesterday.

Preliminary results of the Iraqi elections indicate a resounding defeat for owners

04/22/2013

Baghdad - Basil Muhammad:

Showed some preliminary results is the final counting of votes in the provincial elections of Iraq, that the coalition of "citizen" headed by Ammar al-Hakim made decisive progress in the three southern provinces Shia are Wasit and Dhi Qar, Babylon, as he advanced to resolve the superiority towards the provinces of Najaf, Maysan, while the a coalition of "state law" led by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has made progress in Karbala and Baghdad.

And partial information indicated that a coalition of "free" led by Muqtada al-Sadr made in the province of Diwaniyah, also achieved a coalition "united" Sunni headed by Speaker Osama Najafi, decisive progress in the provinces of Salahuddin and Diyala.

The source said a senior Kurdish in "Kurdistan Democratic Party" headed by Massoud Barzani, for "politics" The loss of al-Maliki six or seven Shiite provinces represents a political defeat for him, because all his accounts were likely victory in seven or eight Shiite provinces in addition to his victory in the capital, Baghdad .

He added that the preliminary results that indicate harvesting coalition al-Hakim and al-Sadr six or seven Shiite provinces out of nine, meaning that Maliki is no longer in control of the political scene Shiite year, also plans to form a majority government policy began facing a dilemma great, Maliki was planning in light of the elections local to defeat his partners in the Shiite alliance, and specifically undermine the influence of al-Hakim and al-Sadr in the first place, allowing him immediately to go to early parliamentary elections can according to readings of his own to score between 150 and 155 seats in the next parliament, and therefore will need eight or thirteen seats to form a comfortable majority government for a three-term prime minister.

The source Kurdish High to offer al-Hakim and al-Sadr in the local elections, dispelled all accounts and hopes Maliki is not that the most important implications of the lack of access Maliki overwhelming majority in the local elections but won in two or slightly more, according to preliminary results, the influence of supreme religious authority in Najaf Ali al-Sistani, was stronger than the influence of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who strongly support efforts to trends landslide victory for the Iraqi prime minister and his coalition.

The source noted that Khamenei, according to confirmed information, pledged to the owners to remain in power and head of government contracts as long as it gets because of the presence of a mass Shiite alliance, and therefore the Iranian leadership of the leading anti-decision of the Iraqi parliament required states Alriasaat three, including the prime minister.... because the plan Iranian political aims to the survival of Maliki in power for a long time, as is the case with dictatorships in the world.

According to the source Kurdish politician, most of the main political forces and including a coalition al-Hakim and al-Sadr, want to oust al-Maliki through elections and therefore the results of local elections that were aborted expectations of the Prime Minister to win an overwhelming majority, are just beginning to defeat in the upcoming parliamentary elections and thus from the viewpoint of these forces, the resolve the current political crisis will be by electoral defeat Maliki, and on this basis has reached a lot of Iraqi leaders to believe that the scenes of political and security situation in Iraq will improve remarkably effective in the absence of face-Maliki him.

According to the same source, most of the readings, including readings prominent Iraqi leaders are expected to leave al-Maliki political life, if it does not guarantee a third term as prime minister in the event happened in the next parliamentary elections for seats not exceeding perhaps sixty seats.

The source said the Kurdish Maliki erred when he thought that the differences and problems with the Sunnis and Kurds will be useful to him electorally and politically, has chosen escalation in recent recognizing this idea, is that the results of the local elections, though not definitive, indicate that these crises was a positive factor for partners in the Shiite alliance.

The source added, "already has benefited Hakim of these differences and presented himself as a line Shiite political moderate versus line Shiite militants led by al-Maliki and the party" call "which is headed," stressing that most of the Shiite street does not want to return to confrontation with the Sunnis and Kurds, unless understood Maliki because political analysis listened Iran and possibly Syria, that further escalation against Sunnis and Kurds will lead to the escalation of the preparation of his supporters and advocates in the elections in nine Shiite provinces and Baghdad to sit on the throne of power as commander unite without any competitor.

The Electoral Commission announced that elections turnout in the first election since legislative elections in March 2010 stood at 50 percent.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
So, here's another piece about how all the dinar in-country is falling to pieces. I've been thinking this for a while, but haven't really put it out there, but this is how I would do it if I were Shabibi/CBI. Simple. Low cost. And nobody feels like he got screwed when it's all over. Incidentally, this article mentions the lower of the existing denominations, but doesn't say anything about the 10000 and 25000 notes, which tells me those either all disintegrated a long time ago, or CBI has bought all of them back that aren't in someone's mattress.

I'm really starting to think the plan, all along, was just to issue whatever amount of dinar they issued, and then just wait until it all disintegrates. It helps if you starve the Iraqis just enough that they sell back some of their mattress stash, too, but if all but 30 billion dinars becomes vapor, the 30 billion that survives is worth $1 each, or whatever they say it's worth, for that matter. It doesn't cost CBI anything and nobody gets too mad because who cares if a note worth 50 cents falls apart? You just toss it in the trash and forget about it, right? It just doesn't make any sense to me that they would go this long without replacing this busted currency. Maybe the plan really is getting highjacked at every turn by Maliki, but my plan works just as well if you're willing to wait a little longer, and we all know CBI has never really been in much of a hurry to do much of anything.

National currency paper damaged O our esteemed banks .. Solves her problem?

Date: Monday 04/22/2013 02:43 am

Fistula: replace damaged the focus of currency exclusively Central Bank

There is no doubt that the national currency in each country is the President of the economy of scale country Vqutea of the strength of the economy and the weakness of the weak economy. We have passed the country's harsh conditions of random wars waged by the former regime to invade to a hot country, which led to the imposition of a devastating and deadly siege by the United States and its allies,

Led to the establishment of the former regime and a random show ignorance of the issuance of a new currency within the country after the addition of three zeros on them, and spread in the market at lightning speed, which led to falling exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar to its lowest level since the founding of the Iraqi state. After the fall of the regime and the beginning of stability, the state issued a new currency printed abroad and stayed zeros تلازمها the We are not here in connection with the lifting of the zeroes or survival, this is a purely economic issue is not where we entered.

This has been the new paper currency in circulation in the market and the years passed by and suffered the majority of them, especially the category of 1000 and 250 dinars and 500 dinars to damage due to excessive trading in most shops and public interests do not receive this currency and become a burden on the holder.

To find out the details of the suffering of the people of this coin, had our first meeting with Mr. Kazim Mohammed fistula / General Manager of the Rasheed Bank:

• Why does not your bank or branches, replace damaged currency and replace it with a new one and the same in the bank?

- First, that the receipt of damaged currency is vested exclusively Iraqi Central Bank is responsible first and last for the receipt of the damaged currency and replace it with a new one and its doors are open to receive.

• I'm here talking about a small amount of dinars and quarters and fairness does not mean large amounts, for example, I can start that replaced five thousand dinars, I have to Avert weaken in order to get to the bank and ابدلها, why does not your branches or branches of the Rafidain collected and transferred to the central bank directly?

- That what you say is true, but this requires staff and accountants new carry out the process, and you know very well that the appointments are limited and all our staff are working great momentum now, so he can not add to his work another job, and you see a great momentum on banks in addition to bear the burden of large and diverse transactions is binding any of the Rasheed Bank and Rafidain together regardless pensions, whether military or civilian alike, this being a month.

• Why does not the central bank and through you or Mesopotamia to issue instructions to the public all its citizens, they need to receive the banknote bearing a number and this is done by the state?

- Do you think that people will abide by these instructions, there is a study to put an end to these damaged currency and collected from the market and replaced with new cash leaves of the same category.

We left Mr. Director-General of the Rasheed Bank and headed directly to the market and we met the owner of a shop selling vegetables, which deals directly with the damaged currency to the fact that prices of materials usually do not exceed a thousand dinars.

The owner of the shop and began nicknamed Abu Ali saying:

- Suffer much of this coin, when trying someone to buy needed worth a thousand dinars, or a thousand and five hundred dinars, gives us the paper and I've stuck tape transparent, sometimes forced to accept reluctantly, hoping to gather and try to اخفيها or lay it down with the rest of the securities while buying my need of President shops.

There have been me big problems with customers especially when they refuse to completely corrupted currency فيصرخ customer at me, saying: It is the state money and why not receive, Vojiba the neurological condition: Why state تبدلها not? Go to the state.

We then moved to arenas eastern door and met vendors scrap of different materials, said Abu Kadhim, one of the sellers when we asked him about his suffering with banknotes damaged, he replied sharply: it's the biggest problem نعانيها gotta do one of them giving us a paper category five thousand dinars and have bought goods Balvin, Nake to return the rest, where refuse to receive the remaining banknotes only if they 'coined Salim' any good sense.

And continue our tour and be one answer «the same Altas and the bathroom and did not see or hear even one tells us that this is a good money and can Nmchiha as we want. Even drivers who were previously Estelmoha, began to refuse to receive the pretext they were Adfoha to fuel stations which are in turn refused to receive and remain puzzled permeated everyone and banknotes remain the same.

Here we Ksahafh and media call gentlemen officials in the banks of rational and Mesopotamia to find a quick solution to this suffering, even canvass on its subsidiaries, alter currency damaged citizens who بمراجعته&#1605; or appoint agents or contractors who roam to buy the currency return for a percentage and last but not least.

«Merciful Father, met the Article (140) even disobedient Hello, Azbhoha kiss.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
I think I've got these auctions figured out, too. Let me know what you think.

OK, so here's what's happening, and why our auctions are so high, consistently, every day. So, the Iraqis get paid in dinars by their government, right? They know there's a change coming with their money and it's going to be more valuable at some point in time, but they have to eat, so they sell it back to the CBI, through the banks, a little bit at a time. The auctions are roughly 2.5 trillion dinars a month or thereabouts, which is pretty close to the government's payroll. That's all the dinar that's left in-country, except for a little bit that's tucked in people's mattresses, and the Iraqis sell a little bit back to CBI at a time, just enough that they need to live on for a short period of time, and hold on to the rest until they need stuff, because the merchants won't take dinar because nobody wants to be the last guy holding a piece of paper that might not be accepted. The government employees don't have a choice, though, because they get paid in dinar, so they hold onto it until they need to buy something. That's why these auctions are roughly 125 billion every day and never seem to go down significantly, even though we have spikes to 200 billion and lows to 80 billion, or so.
