Deputy: the need to control the formation of committees to destroy the old currency in the implementation of the project to delete the three zeroes
25-04-2013 12:27 PM

Baghdad (news) .. Stressed member of the Economic Commission MP / National Alliance / Abdulabas the Xiaa, the importance of the formation of the supervisory committees of all state institutions to pursue the process of destroying the old currency in the implementation of the project to delete the three zeroes from the national currency.

And said Xiaa (of the Agency news): The project to delete the three zeroes is one of the important projects and sensitive because it is linked with public money, its implementation process must be monitored and accurate to prevent fraud and manipulation and money laundering.

He explained: that practical measures to destroy the old currency must be under the control of the House of Representatives and government institutions in the country and with the participation of the media during the formation of committees to control, to prevent tampering and theft by some quarters.

He added: that the central bank gave a deadline of two years for the process of replacing the old currency currency deleted them zeros, to be handled together, that is the process of absorption of the old currency from the market so did not feel the citizen.

Iraqi Central Bank: No intentions to strike out zeros from the currency

26-04-2013 - 13:00 | Source:

Editor: Ghassan Hamed

Iraqi Central Bank expressed on Thursday that it does not intend to restructure Iraqi currency of strike out the three zeros, denying any news pertaining to Iraqi Dinar redenomination .

“Some media stations reported statements that the Central Bank was thinking about restructuring the Iraqi currency and striking out the three zeros”, said the bank in a statement of which Alsumaria got a copy. It added “the Bank, considered to be the only authority or reference to make such statement, points out that we have no intention to restructure currency or strike zeros out”.

Local news stations have reported a few days before that currency restructuring and removing zeros will soon take place considering that this will lead to promoting currency exchange and international economic transactions, in a new development on the Iraqi currency forefront.

The general secretariat of the cabinet announced on April 12 that it will carefully reconsider striking out zeros which entails suspending all monetary activity until further notice.

Some economy experts consider that Iraq is not ready at the time for striking out the zeros from the Dinar, pointing out that such operation required security, political and economic stability.

Admin_Bob:
These article seem to have a purpose. Not one of 'we are not doing anything', but we are not LOPing our dinar!

Kaperoni:
Yes, I think this makes it clear that the CBI will "raise" the value of the dinar as we said all along. And those who though it was a LOP and neutral event are wrong. This IMO adds more credibility to the "floating orbit of exchange" slow rise of the dinar via a float though it does not mention it.

I always try to look at these articles as if I am an Iraqi citizen. In this case, there must have been alot of Iraqis confused that a 25,000 would become a 25 dinar. Giving them the impression this event was bad. This article seems to put that to rest.

The Central Bank scrapped the currency structure of the year

April 26, 2013 Baghdad-on-off

The Central Bank said there is no intention of structuring currency and delete zeros this year.

The parliamentary Finance Commission member Abdul Hussein Al-yasiri for (time) on (the Central Bank declared its intention to restructure the currency and delete zeros this year).

The Committee (with the currency because it reduces the structure of categories and make it easier to carry and over fraudulent groups add that enhances the value of the dinar against the dollar).

Adding (if you omit leading zeros will bank issuing currency class 100 dinar be worth close to $ 100 and that this thing would reduce currency from 4 billion to billion).

The Bank has no intention of structuring currency and delete zeros in time. He denied in a statement (what's current news on the restructuring of the currency and delete the zeros).

Very telling statement:

"Adding (if you omit leading zeros will bank issuing currency class 100 dinar be worth close to $ 100 and that this thing would reduce currency from 4 billion to billion)."

The way this is described it can't have more than one meaning. To "delete the zeros" means knocking 3 zeros off the nominal value. The key word is "leading zeros" meaning the zeros in front, not the three zeros found behind the # on a note like the 5000. .00086 becomes .86 once the leading zeros are removed. They even describe the value once they remove these zeros in the same sentence. Lastly this comes from the bank itself, not from some second hand source.

I'm having a hard time with it, calin. One article seems to say they don't ever plan on "striking zeros" from the existing notes, which confirms no l-word. The other article says no deletion of zeros this year. Together, they only make sense if "delete three zeros" means multiple things, and gets used in its various interpretations in different articles.

If these articles are taken individually, I guess they are saying they don't ever plan to l-word, and that they don't plan on removing the zeros from the exchange rate (the so-called "leading zeros") this year. As Kaperoni would say, that could be an allusion to a free float, or it could just mean they don't plan on doing anything with the exchange rate this year, but then, there have statements from the Parliamentary Finance Committee indicating they plan on doing it in the very near future, so this could all be BS from the CBI to discourage speculation.

Either way, we seem to have confirmation of no l-word and that the initial rate will be somewhere between 86 cents and a dollar.

One thing is for sure. If they wait the rest of this year to do anything, every last dinar in Iraq will have turned to dust. Those notes were only meant to last 6-8 months, and most of them on the streets today have been in circulation for close to 3 or 4 years and are falling to pieces.

BluWolf............... Iraqis like dates like the 17,27,28,29 of April for there rv's so pick a number.

Hmmm...

Shredd: The bottom line is this...we are in a “when” situation and not an “if”. The wealth is there, the growth is there and the investment is there. These will all continue to grow. For me, this project of deleting the zeros moving full steam ahead is very exciting. Soon we will see proof of the lower denominations, soon we will discover more and more of the CBI’s monetary policy changes and soon we will see the dinar’s exchange rate change. What is interesting to watch for is the upcoming May deadline with the DFI funds protection as well as the growing demand for the dollar and how that may push forward or expedite the emergence of a stronger Dinar. My wonderful grandmother would tell me, “patience is a virtue” which is so stinkin’ true. Remember, this is not an “if”… this is a “when”. The Dinar has gained from 4000 to 1 already and the ISX is rapidly growing as well.

TONY-- we are going to have a great day already, I know we are.... it is a good day, have not heard any bad things... I do not have a lot of information just good information... The real story of what is going on in Iraq as I know it... I know you are seeing articles.... the salaries in a province is being paid today/tomorrow... my guy from over there said yesterday, allah has blessed us and now we wait, all is over with, banks putting things in place, our blessings are to come.... this morning Finance Minister telling them where they will be open tomoorw ...the citizens are excited the banks are open tomorrow... the exchanges for the lower denoms... banking officials tell them... I have been told this is the last week and everything is pointing to that ... telling them they will pay their people and tomorrow they are opening their banks for the people soooooo.... I guess we shall see.

Q&A
caller about WF higher rate?

Tony
-- yes heard that but there is no reason any other bank cannot offer that as well... I do know Chase will we know its going to be over $3 there because they keep telling their people it will be higher than the Saddam era... I was looking for before the end of the month but with what is going on there right now and their people are excited about tomorrow, so me too lol... and what they are doing with the banks is this is very unusual and statements were back on TV again today I dont think it will come out to double digits, I think they want to run it up to double digits and then come back down....
The best thing for me was when I got that call from WA back in January and who it was from did it for me, my defining moment that told me I would never sell even one dinar note.

The banking system over there is done and they are excited for tomorrow... he said yesterday we are just waiting... yes I agree with others we are on an hour to hour watch... I have not had a chance to talk to Dan & Gary today... Dan said yesterday he was hearing a lot of stuff but didnt know if he believes it...

I will not put my money in just one place but over many places like banks, annuities, and other places...

He came on explaining to them how the procedures will be and was here in DC asking for approval sooo its sounds like something to me... text Chase bank ready yesterday... has a list of 5 cities and 800 number as well... so yes I think the banks are ready...

M was on TV yesterday telling peeps after he deals with the terrorism he will deal with the change in the currency but he was talking about this last incident/location Mosul.... so if we look at things and putting things together knowing they are excited is where we are.... I know the IMF and everybody else has signed off on this and this should have happened a long time ago
I know the banks themselves are going to give an 800 number and they are allowed to give a higher rate so I don't know if the group you are talking about is talking about that or not...

Chase will do the same thing as WF will offer you 2$ over the going rate but there will be restrictions, like keeping a percentage in their bank... think about this why would our country let another country come in and take all that money? we owe a trillion to China but why would we not just pay them off instead of let them have the deal for the exchange?

If it comes out based on the USD our rate will be the same as theirs... if its to the GBP then we will have a higher rate...

"501"number, US Gov Army listening in but would not say anything to Tony... Tony kept calling him out but no....

Plenty of people are thinking tonight and finance minister says time for the people of Iraq to get what they deserve... enjoy your day and hopefully we will be talking to you tomorrow!

I think I get it now, calin. Here's an article that explains it a little better than the ones from earlier today. Basically, methinks the CBI doth protest too much. A few days ago, there must have been a leak that CBI was about to do currency reform which is where all those articles have been coming from lately. Today, the CBI is denying it, but the cat's pretty much out of the bag at this point.

Kaperoni:
This article implies that the local media was told a few days ago that the currency was changing and it would soon begin. It also sounds like this article is just stating some media got it wrong and said the deletion of zeros and restructoring would begin. And though that is what the CBI can talk about, they didn't say that. If true, that means that the currency will begin to rise very soon.

Central Bank: currency structure and exclusion delete zeros in current time

2013-04-26 Follow the new morning

Counting the Central Bank of Iraq that there is no intention at this time to restructure and delete the three zeros, denying reports in this regard. The Bank said in a statement that "some media deliberated statements about the intention of the Iraqi Central Bank restructuring and deleting three zeros from them», said: «while confirming the Bank that the only reference to declare things like this indicates no intention to restructure the currency and delete the zeros in the moment».

Local media were covered, a few days ago, news that the Iraqi currency structure and procedures deleting zeros which would soon begin, saying that this will lead to the development of international economic and monetary transactions in a new development in the Iraqi currency.

On the other hand, the dollar in the domestic market has risen sharply over the past few days, if the price of the dollar around 1280 was IQD last month at around 1,200. Foreign currency dealers said in Baghdad: the US dollar, rose markedly since early this month, but this height peaked on Wednesday, after a record per dollar 1,285 dinars. At the time of Central Bank seeks through the currency auction for years, to keep the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar in the currency market, the exchange rate is volatile clear since late last year.

Economist Majid mock said: «regional situations in the region, particularly the situation surrounding Iraq's neighbors, especially Iran and Syria, one of the main reasons behind the dollar recently on Iraqi markets», «Central Bank sales in the form of cash have risen recently over remittances due to the dealings the two cash in trade because of the economic embargo imposed on them.

Mock said that the Bank's sale of $ 100 million a day it would mean the sale of $ 500 million a week and thus there is a $ 26 billion goes to outside Iraq for import ", noting that" most of these sums are smuggled out of Iraq without benefit.

Economist alecs Antoine demand on the dollar than before because the mafias are collecting dollars and smuggled out of Iraq on the pretext of import operations outside of Iraq, stating that "the quantities coming out of Iraq are not commensurate with the amount of goods entering the mechanism.

Antoine adds that "Iraq has five offices for laundering these offices, however, are still below the level in the detection of smuggling hard currency outside Iraq, stressing" all parties must cooperate among themselves whether the Central Bank or border control and customs taxes and fight corruption and increase oversight and internal stakeholders.

The Central Bank says: he seeks through the currency auction for years, to keep the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar in the currency market, but the exchange rate is volatile clear since late last year The Bank does not provide any explanations for the discrepancy between the price and the price in the local market, although responsible for monetary policy in the country. Including exchange rate policies and the daily meetings of the buying and selling of foreign currency except official holidays the Bank depends on these auctions.

Perhaps both are true. Because we are trying to mix apples and oranges, as it were. removing 3 zeros from the currency vs removing the 3 leading zeros from the exchange rate. So it would seem to be saying no the 3 zeros from the currency and yes to the 3 leading zeros. Just a thought and it would seem to make sense all thing considered. ts

PS in other words no l o p but a RV. It would seem that many were and are worried in Iraq that there 000 notes might become totally worthless l o p. and I think we are seeing statements to the effect that this is not going to happen, but an Rv is.

I think you're exactly right, ts. I've thought, for a long time, delete three zeros means several things at the same time.

1. Remove a large amount of 3 zero notes from circulation and burn them.

2. Remove the 3 zeros from the front of the exchange rate. This could also be achieved via a free float, because as the rate goes up, the zeros on the exchange rate delete themselves.

3. Issue new currency, minus the zeros, i.e. the re-denomination.

If true, that would leave us living in an era of undisguised, real-world conspiracy, in which the prices of currencies, commodities like gold and silver, even interest rates and the value of money itself, can be and may already have been dictated from above. If true, that would leave us living in an era of undisguised, real-world conspiracy, in which the prices of currencies, commodities like gold and silver, even interest rates and the value of money itself, can be and may already have been dictated from above. And those who are doing it can get away with it. Forget the Illuminati – this is the real thing, and it's no secret. You can stare right at it, anytime you want.

Exactly. I don't believe anyone anymore about anything. However, I do accept the dinar will revalue - we just don't know when. As goes Kuwait, so goes Iraq.

Haha. I was just listening to the end of the Gatekeepers call and someone said Maliki may not be a constitutional prime minister because his mother was Iranian and an Iraqi PM has to be born to two Iraqis. So, Iraq now has its own birther problem, and I get to be two kinds of birther.

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Member of Finance Committee says Iraq keeping banknotes unchanged throughout 2013

Azzaman, April 27, 2013

Iraq’s Central Bank will not remove three zeros from its currency, the dinar, a move it had said it wanted to implement in 2013.

The bank had drawn up plans to start replacing current banknotes with new ones, deleting three zeros and reducing the volume of dinars in circulation with each four billion dinars substituted by one billion dinars.

“The Central Bank has announced that it has no intention to restructure the currency by removing three zeros from its value this year,” said Abdulhusain al-Yaseri, a deputy who sits on the parliament’s Finance Commission.

Currently one U.S. dollar is worth more than 1250 dinars and Yaseri said Iraqis needed to carry large sums of currency even for household shopping as payment by credit card is rare in Iraq.

Issuing new denominations with deleted zeros will simplify payment and accelerate trade exchanges, he said.

However, Yaseri did not say when the Central Bank will start issuing new currency.

He said the massive sum of banknotes in circulation raised the possibility of faked banknotes and has been cited as one reason for the latest slump in the dinar’s value from around 1120 to more than 1250 vis-à-vis the U.S. dollar.

However, he said the bank had in place a plan to remove three zeros from the dinar, and issue a 100 dinar note that will be equivalent to $100.

He said it was in Iraq’s interest to print new currency with lower denomination, the thing that “will make easier to detect forgeries.”

Exchanging currency by increasing its value or printing new notes are costly to the economy, though the Central Bank has not said how much the whole operation will cost if carried out.

There are also fears of corruption as the banks starting exchanging their Iraqi dinar reserves.

Varied opinions and different views: Politicians: the project to delete the zeros «important; Economists: unimportant

04/27/2013 09:04

Iraqi observer – specialThe project to delete the zeros before long and is applicable of the important projects that work to reduce the volume of currency large circulating in Iraq and that اتخلو of risk in the event did not take a deliberate plan by the central bank

to Ihlolh without impact on the consequences of money laundering and fraud, has stressed member Economic Commission Abdulabas Xiaa the importance of the formation of committees control of all state institutions to pursue the process of destroying the old currency in the implementation of the project to delete the three zeroes from the national currency,

because the project to delete the three zeroes is one of the important projects and sensitive because it is linked to public money, process of implementation should be monitored and accurate to prevent fraud and manipulation and money laundering.

And practical measures to destroy the old currency must be under the control of the House of Representatives and government institutions in the country and with the participation of the media through the formation of committees to control, to prevent tampering and theft by some quarters, and continued:

that the central bank gave a deadline of two years for the process of replacing the old currency currency of a new, has identified the Economic Commission earlier date for the implementation of the project to delete the three zeroes from the currency early this year (2014),

asserting that the Central Bank to develop procedures limit fraud and manipulation that may accompany the process of replacing the currency, and this project ايعد to delete the three zeroes from the Iraqi currency only

but re-structuring currency in terms of reduction of banknotes, and will be the highest category of paper (200) dinars, which is shorthand for the $ (200) thousand dinars, equivalent to (170) dollars. and the central bank will begin its procedures proactive implementation of the project during the current year

Ktba currency and contracting with companies to be after the process of replacing the currency in the beginning of next year, the central bank put strict measures to prevent fraud that may accompany the replacement process,

and the country needs a draft restructuring currency after deleting three zeros from being coming to an expected increase in revenue of Finance in the coming years, it Sechtzel figures and banknotes.

It showed the Economic Commission that the project will include Coins & Stamps, and consists of categories (half JD, JD, JD 5, 10 dinars, 25 dinars, 50 dinars, 100 dinars, 200 dinars), so that the employee if his salary million Vestelm thousand dinars, five categories of paper of class (200) dinars, stressing that this process will facilitate a lot of things fiscal and monetary.

Observers believe economists that the draft of the new currency would not change a thing of the purchasing power of the Iraqi dinar and its effects are limited to organizational matters and reduce the size of the Currency massive rolling in Iraq.,

As well as stop the cycle of the Iraqi economy, which is one of the most important challenges facing policy makers in developing countries in general and Iraq in particular,

which means the use of the U.S. dollar or any foreign currency has a capacity replacement of the national currency in transactions and contracts internal financial and counted a store of value at the same time.

either positive second will be through reducing inflation rates Balamd average, which include raising the external value of the Iraqi dinar (ie, the nominal exchange rate) in a manner commensurate with the real exchange rate to contain inflationary expectations,

taking into consideration the trends apparent inflationary and the level of acceptance and availability of reserves inflationary and the level of acceptance and availability of international reserves at the Central Bank of Iraq

and a way inhibits inflationary expectations and reducing the speed of circulation coins , the deleting three zeros means converting 30 trillion dinars to 30 billion dollars by deleting three zeros from the current currency and replace it with a new currency.

I know what you mean, calin. This stuff gets really old, and I'm gonna give it until May 22 when the DFI protection is set to expire, and then I'm taking some time off. Here's a piece on the meeting between Barzani and Maliki today. Apparently, they agreed to pass the HCL law, but like you said, we've been there many times before.

Agreed that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and President of the Kurdistan Regional Government Nechirvan Barzani, on Monday, to pass important laws that have the effect active in resolving the "outstanding issues" between the two parties, such as oil and gas law, and give the security side "of particular importance in all parts of Iraq, as agreed continue meetings to resolve all issue

Re: Iraq an economic Study
Here's a couple of interesting pieces from this morning. Najafi wants to dissolve Parliament and the government and go to early parliamentary elections, and it appears Iraqiya is asking the Kurds to replace Talabani. Both of these moves, in my opinion, are exactly what Iraq needs. You don't recover from what Talabani has and he's never been much good for anything anyway. Parliament can't even be bothered to show up, so maybe electing a new group will solve that problem. Either way, we have reached the point of insanity of trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

[link to www.alliraqnews.com]

Baghdad (AIN) -The Speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Osama al-Nijaifi released an initiative to resolve the current political crisis in Iraq.
MP Mohamed al-Khalidi of the Iraqiya Slate said "Nijaifi's initiative includes the resignation of the government and forming another government to temporarily run the country, it also involves dissolving the parliament and conducting early legislative elections."
The Premier Nouri al-Maliki has repeatedly renewed his call to conduct early parliament elections, noting " the political stability cannot be achieved but through forming political majority government." /End

Baghdad (AIN) -MP, Abd Thiyab al-Ajaili, called the Kurdistani Alliance to nominate a national figure that replaces the President, Jalal Talabani, to achieve the balance in Iraq and to be a mediator among the political sides to settle the crisis.
In a press statement received by AIN, he said “If there is a president, he will help in achieving the balance and settle the disputes,” noting that “Talabani’s absence has a big impact on the political situation.”
“Talabani is a good figure that we like, but each human being live his turn and anyone faces a health crisis should submit a resignation and make another one to replaces him,” he added.
He called “The KA to nominate a national figure that replaces Talabani where there are many figures that are capable of this post.”/ End
Rev. 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
