Trader Tracks Situational Alert Saturday, 12-24-11 -Christmas Eve at 740am PST - roger wiegand -Traderrog:
"We have received a report of unusual banking activity. Banking screens on 138 different currencies are show 00.000. Some rate fluctuations are beginning to appear. There have been no answers on this activity but banks have been notified to expect a large change in currency rates." (quote not attributed to protect the source).

In our view, what is happening is a massive devaluation in probably the Euro Currency relative to the values versus individual nations. The ECB loaned over $600 Billion (produced out of thin air with no collateral) last week to European Central Bank Member Nations. We think this next step is to re-configure the values of the Euro within each member country.

With U.S. troops now out of the country, I suspect we could be on the verge of seeing Iraq spiral into civil war. We already have seen a series of terrorist attacks in recent days. My fear is that this will only get worse.

The Sunnis clearly don’t trust the Shiites, especially Shiite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. Some of his recent actions, including an arrest warrant for the Sunni vice president, have fueled this fear of a civil war.

Vice President Joe Biden has been on the phone for days with Iraqi leaders trying to calm things down. So far, he has not met with much success. It has long been Biden – more than any other top U.S. official – who has long feared the collapse of Iraq into these three groupings.
Freedom requires breathing room, the Constitution presupposes that there will be some crazies among us so that the rest of us can enjoy freedom. - Judge Andrew Napolitano

you are very wrong in your aassessment what about contracts? what about the people giving back purchasing power? so marginally how is that going to affect the country in a positive way? and the budget doesnt require a marginally insignificant change believe me budgets need to have value to sustain their economy what are they gonna do flood the markets with lower denoms that are worthless aginst the USD? why even have the dinar in the first place? honestly the CBI is trying to get rid of the USd use in country. What good is it to keep the dinar with no value or little value if the usd use is rampant and has been for years. A country needs a valuable currency to be a strong country and Iraq has got the resources. only one way to stop the hostility and to gain the people's attention and to stat to trust the banks is to raise the vaue to at least a 1 to 1 imho.

In all truth and trying to be subjective in regards to the dinar. I would have to say I agree with second opinion in the post. The minimum I see that the could get away with is .33 dinar to the dollar and then a slow growth in the value over time. My two dinar worth. Not much. sk

Central Bank intervenes in defense of Iraqi dinar

By Khayoun Saleh

Azzaman, January 2, 2012

The Central Bank says it will not allow the Iraqi dinar to depreciate and has been selling hundreds of millions of dollars to keep the currency stable.

The Iraqi dinar weakened in December last year, prompting the bank to sell dollars in a bid to withdraw cash from Iraqi markets.

The bank did not say what brought the dinar to plummet to lows it had not seen for years, but officials privately say the plunge might have been due to political uncertainty in the region.

Mudher Saleh, Central Bank’s deputy governor, has said there were no sound economic reasons for the currency’s weakening.
