Supposedly, it's gonna be tomorrow now. Who knows, though? They've backed it up so many times, another delay wouldn't be surprising at all.

Looks like Barzani is calling the long-anticipated National Meeting for late next week now, too, and the Kurds have agreed to the 2007 HCL and are pressing for its passage soon.

Did you see the news about the US not renewing the DFI protection? I could write it all down, but it would take forever to explain the implications. Suffice to say, if these Iraqis don't give us what we want in the very near future, they're going to lose a pile of money in May. The DFI funds and other Iraqi asset overseas will be gobbled up by creditors before Iraq sees a dime if they default under the IMF's Standby Agreement as their Paris Club debt reductions will be revoked. These funds are estimated anywhere from $150B-$850B.

We've got guys over there now from the Fed/Treasury pushing economic reforms and State Dept pushing political reforms. The economic guys are "insisting" on the implementation of the most recent update, from January, of the Strategic Framework Agreement, which means the implementation of free market reforms. Included in free market reforms is a convertible currency. Read: Float or RV.

Listen to Kaperoni's call last night. He and Enorrste explain it better than I ever could. You may want to fast forward to about minute 30. The first couple articles aren't really relevant. It's only an hour-long call.
