You may have seen this yesterday on DV about them closing the border with Jordan in addition to shutting down the 10 TV channels. I figured it was just a security thing with all the craziness going on, even though there were a few folks who, predictably, tied it to our thing. It did seem a little odd to me that they would focus on Jordan, though, since their border with Jordan is the most peaceful one they have. Anyway, Kaperoni just weighed in on it, and he thinks there may be something up, too. I'm still skeptical, but I respect Kap's opinion, so here it is.

Kaperoni:
I found this article a bit odd. Since we saw all those dinar articles last week both for and against the reform. And this came out saying they are closing the border with Jordan. The borders with Kuwait are very secure, along with Syria due to war..so this could imply something is happening. For sure stating...."related to the internal affairs Iraqi." is intriguing. Not to mention it's the end of the month.

Here's the article:
Iraqi border, Iraqi border

Iraqi authorities informed through its embassy in Amman, the Jordanian government, as the border between the two countries will be closed in front of the passenger and cargo movements, starting at dawn on Tuesday for a period of forty-eight hours, while continuing as normal air traffic. According to the Jordan News Agency official "Petra" that the Iraqi authorities informed through its embassy in Amman, the Jordanian government that it would close port "Trebil" only border between the two countries before the rival passenger and cargo, as of dawn on Tuesday for a period of forty-eight hours for reasons "related to the internal affairs Iraqi . "

The Interior Ministry said Jordan in a press release issued on Sunday that the closure will not include air traffic, which will operate as usual during the period of closure, and unchanged on all scheduled flights.

The statement added that the ministry is currently working in coordination with the Iraqi embassy in Amman to find a suitable solution to ensure the continued flow of Jordanian agricultural exports to the Iraqi market during the period of closure, where the Iraqi embassy expressed its readiness to coordinate with the Iraqi government to find a solution to ensure the resolution of this issue. The ministry asked according to the statement of Jordanians timeliness of closure to shorten the time and effort on them.

Referred to the port "Trebil," which is about Oman about 370 kilometers and Baghdad, about 570 km is the only outlet between the two countries, as evidenced by consistently movement of passengers and goods, in addition to the transfer of Iraqi crude oil to Jordan through the tanks, according to the Jordan News Agency Official "Petra".

And witnessing several Iraqi provinces, including Sunni-majority Anbar province, a wave of violence since the storming of the army forces Square sit-in Hawija in Kirkuk province, north of the country last Tuesday, claiming the presence of "terrorists" inside the arena.

And blew the deaths of dozens of dead and injured in this intrusion widespread anger evolution of clashes between militants and security forces in several provinces, which raised fears of renewed civil war.
