That's all this is about, really. Just a fun way to occupy time until it's over. I've been wrong so many times, I lost count a long time ago, but it's still fun. I don't need to be right about but one thing, really. It just helps me to wrap my head around what's going on by trying to predict what will happen next.

He's trying to appear somewhat neutral in Iraqi elections here, probably so as not to piss off the Maliki's Shiite supporters too much, but those last three quotes, taken together, are the policy that has been discussed over the last 24 hours. Namely, that we don't support a noninclusive government, and will not go in, in any serious manner, until there is an inclusive government in place. Does anyone really think Maliki is the guy that will ever meet that standard?

I don't see that in the transcript, but I only read the parts that seemed to deal with Maliki, because even when I read Obama, I hear Obama in my head, and I just don't enjoy that. Could you put it in context?

The Iraqi Central Bank, said on Thursday that the security situation in the country "will not have a major impact on the Iraqi dinar", attributing the reason to the "power of the Iraqi dinar and the precautions that support", with a financial expert pointed out that the turnout of Iraqi citizens to hoard hard currencies would be "temporally", the Governor of the Iraqi economy to balance the dinar per covered with 1.3% of the dollar which "once again a third."

He said the Iraqi Central Bank Governor Abdel Basset Turki said in an interview with the (range), the CBI functions according to law is the preservation and stability of the dinar against other currencies ", stating that "the World Bank has examined and discussed the current security situation in the country and their impact on the financial situation in the country."

He said "what is Turkish from foreign currency reserves at the Central Bank would be to control the dinar exchange rate against the dollar," he said, adding that "the cash reserve for Iraqi dinar amounts to 70 billion dollars and that the Central Bank is able to support the dinar exchange rate, which currently stands at 1,200 dinars to the dollar, so there is no fear for the dinar at the current time."

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Maliki. It tolls for thee.

Again, can't post the link, but at Friday prayers, Sistani called for a new, effective government, and blamed Maliki for the Sunni insurgency. The Grand Ayatollah has spoken, and the National Alliance now says it is looking for a new PM. This Maliki is finished.

I am very stunned He made this public. A senior religious reference stating this is a major blow. Normally, these types of Officials will not take sides. They may elude indirectly, by their comments. It's nice to see some of our media catching up on this, with the AP articles today, but here's how wrong most of them still are...I just heard on local conservative talk radio, during an ABC News break, "Shiite cleric al-Sistani is calling for Iraqi prime minister Maliki to be more inclusive of minorities in his government." That's not what Sistani said, at all. He said "New government." Period.
