Oh look another bunk study made to fail about Vitamin D
Among seniors with a high risk of bone fractures, taking vitamin D or calcium pills has no impact on their chances of dying from cancer or vascular disease, researchers say in a new study.

Vitamin D is considered beneficial for bone health, and earlier studies have found that having low vitamin D levels in the blood is tied to a greater chance of dying from heart problems.

The thinking, therefore, has been that taking extra vitamin D might cut that risk.

I don't listen to vested-interest BS like this. I take 3 5000 IU caps of D3 every day, and I haven't had any colds or flu for years.

Typical BS article...

First of all, it didn't link a study where I can take a closer look.

2nd of all, 800IU a day is nothing. Rule of thumb is 1000 IU for every 25 lbs of body weight. That's what most vitamin D experts use.

3rd of all, those researchers are stupid. They don't seem to know what they are doing. It is MUCH more important to focus on ng/ml to make sure they are in the optimal range. 800 IU a day won't probably even crack 30 ng/ml when the optimal range is 50-80 ng/ml which often requires 1000-2000 IU for every 25lbs of bodyweight.

I started out on 2000 IU and soon came to learn it was no where near what I should be taking so bumped it up to 6000 IU a day but need some higher IU ones as these I got are only 2000 IU a pill.

Just get some sun and you'll have plenty of Vit-D...you also cannot overdose on the D your own body makes...you can on the suppliments and as in most of these sort of courses...people can and do take too much.

Besides if you go outside time to time you won't look like a fat bag of paste...it's also interesting..there's this huge ball of light deal that lives in the sky...check it out I'm serious bout that.

Vitamin D is only really recieved through sunshine... and suppliments cannot get close to how tha works..

sunshine leaves it on our skin and if we let it absorbe we recieve its benefits... if we slather on all kinds of sun block, the skin absorbes those cancer causing sun block ingredients.

we cannot live without the sun....

vitamin D suppliment work 2%......

go take a walk outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't need to take vitamin pills when you eat healthy. Actually an overdose of vitamins is deadly to the kidneys.

It was already been proven to work! Quit with that crap.

Do you see anyone sunbathing in the middle of the winter? That's when our vitamin D level drop to the lowest level of the year. Either Vitamin D3 (exactly same thing as produced in the skin when exposed to UVB sunlight) or tanning booth with low ballast bulbs is needed.

Here in the Northern US at this time of year I could stand outside under a bright sun, naked, all day and still not make enough D3 to make a difference. Supplements or light are the only answer for us North of Miami.

It's more complicated than that...

In large cities, air pollution can block UVB sunlight so all you get is UVA which breaks down vitamin D in the body...

During the winter, UVB sunlight is nonexist or weak so you may not get much vitamin D depending on where you live. Miami may be fine (assuming there's no air pollution to block UVB). Chicago... not so much...

Vitamin D deficiency is widespread now thanks to moronic sun scare...

You calling me fat hehe

Thats true about the big glowing ball in the sky, but in the winter months we just dont get enough and in order to get the full benefits we'd have to wander around butt naked. To top this off the older we get the ability of our skin to synthesize vitamin D declines with age.

Add sun screen to all this and were lacking.

The conspiracytard in me reckons that the "sun scare" was concocted on purpose. The Elites know what a miracle vitamin (actually, a hormone) D3 is, and don't want anyonyone supplementing with it.

You can take all the Vit D you want, but unless you have enough K2 your cells won't absorb enough calcium. K2 is key. Want to heal a broken bone or a fix dental problem? K2. Americans are lacking K2 since the modern age. (or when we stopped using lard...)
