Police tear down tents and arrest dozens of protesters at Boston's Dewey Square

Police swooped on Boston’s Dewey Square early Saturday, evicting hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protesters and tearing down their tents.

It brought an end to the ten-week occupation of the city centre space – the longest continual Occupy demonstration in the country.

Mayor Thomas Menino had announced an eviction deadline for midnight on Thursday but police waited until 5 a.m today to clear the remaining protesters.
