I do the hardest/toughest job in the world, ask me a question.
[link to www.youtube.com]

Seriously, its been rated as the hardest job in the world. Supposedly equivalent to running 2 marathons in one day.

Most of you prob don't even know what a sheep is, let alone a shearer.

Some days it can be as hot as 52*C outside, and some people have measured 60*C inside the sheds.

Guys I know have had 12 stitches (from a cut) and come back to work the next day. A Maori lady in NZ had a baby inside the shed, and was at work the next day.

Its a lifestyle. And you have to be a bit crazy to love it, and I do.

And so you know, my IQ is over 150, so we are not all deadshits.

How the hey do you keep a sheep on his back like that, he is putty in your hands. They can't be that docile? Or can they?

Seriously, if your life sux that much, why keep living it?
Either end it, or get out of the basement and improve on it.

You only have yourself to blame.

Here is another bad karma comment:

"For being mean to a sheep. How would you like it if I grabbed you and tossed you around to shave you. Hardest job, my ass. Loser."

Seriously, either kill yourself, or get a real life.
Dont be hating on those of us who are living it.

Re: I do the hardest/toughest job in the world, ask me a question.
I have had days in Queensland where I had to drink 24 litres of water. Some days you will eat twice what a normal person does.

I have measured my heart rate a few times and the average over 8 hours in Scotland was 138bpm, and in Australia 120bpm. I would guess that in New Zealand it would have been about 150-160bpm. When you are working over there you get so saturated in sweat that your singlet is soaked within 15 minutes of beginning work.

In Australia a really good shearer does 200 merinos.
In New Zealand a really good shearer does 400 crossbreds.

Its getting harder because the sheep are getting bigger every year.

Just going on what a study concluded a few years ago.

Some guys are as hard as you will get. Shear all day, then exercise for an hour or more after work. Others will shear all day, drink till 3/4am, have 2/3 hours sleep and do it all again.

I poured concrete foundations(basements etc..) for a living....handset forms, not even a boom truck, everything was carried by hand...there were days I would be almost knee deep in mud throwing 100 pound oil and concrete covered forms up to people standing on the banks... many times they would miss them and back down they came...oh yeah and after you strip forms there were these jagged, razor sharp pins protruding through the wall about every 18" or so, you dont want to lose your balance and fall back...but, you only had to do this a few hundred times a day, so i guess it wasnt that tough, did i mention the heat??...just sayin'

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.
